STEPS FOR APPLYIG FOR FIACIAL ASSISTACEA. <strong>Student</strong>s must apply for admission to <strong>Southern</strong> <strong>University</strong> at <strong>New</strong> <strong>Orleans</strong>.Financial aid is contingent upon being accepted for admission as aregular student seeking a degree or certificate. Federal and state financialassistance will be considered when an applicant has completed all admissionrequirements and SUNO has received a valid Institutional <strong>Student</strong>Information Report (ISIR) which indicates the results of the Free Applicationfor Federal <strong>Student</strong> Aid (FAFSA) within the established deadlines.SUNO’s financial assistance priority deadline is April 15th of each year.B. <strong>Student</strong>s interested in applying for Federal and state financial aid shouldcomplete the FAFSA as early as possible, after January 1st of each year.Financial assistance is available to students who complete the necessaryapplication and are determined eligible. The <strong>Student</strong> Financial Aid staffwill evaluate each student’s need and make awards based on the informationobtained from the <strong>Student</strong> Aid Report (SAR) or ISIR and in accordancewith federal, state and <strong>University</strong> policies and guidelines. Applicationsare available at local high schools and in SUNO’s <strong>Student</strong> FinancialAid Office. <strong>Student</strong>s may also complete the FAFSA on the Web andsubmit it directly to the FAFSA processing system. The Web address iswww.fafsa.gov. The Federal <strong>Student</strong> Code for SUO is 002026.C. If interested in a Federal Stafford Loan, the student must first completethe FAFSA and then the <strong>Student</strong> Loan Data Form and submit this form tothe SUNO Financial Aid Office or online at ww.suno.edu/financialaid.D. The student should promptly provide all additional requested documentationto the SUNO <strong>Student</strong> Financial Aid Office. Failure to provide therequested information will prevent further processing of his or herapplication.E. Once the ISIR or SAR, the Data Form (all students must complete thedata forms, which can be obtained from the Office of <strong>Student</strong> FinancialAid and can be downloaded from the web site) and all requested documentationhave been received, eligibility will be determined and an officialaward package will be generated and available online through the<strong>Student</strong> Web Services at www.suno.edu.F. <strong>Student</strong> Loans will not be disbursed until award packages have been acceptedby the student.Deadlines: Priority consideration for financial aid will be given to studentswho complete the FAFSA and submit all required information tothe SUO Office of <strong>Student</strong> Financial Aid by April 15 th for the upcomingacademic year.
