Motor vehicles can be registered at the Maintenance Building from 10 a.m.to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday. Vehicle registration for eachsemester will end one week after the official University registration period.All motor vehicles operated by persons affiliated with the University must beregistered within 48 hours after the vehicle is brought on campus. The Universityrequires all faculty, staff, day and evening students to register anyvehicle that they operate, regardless of ownership.The person in whose name the vehicle is registered with University PoliceHeadquarters will be held liable for all citations issued to the vehicle. Anapplicant must present, at the time of registration, his or her own driver’slicense and vehicle registration slip.Drivers of new cars will be allowed to register without license tag registrationsbut will be required to present license tag registration within twentydays. Failure to comply constitutes a violation of traffic regulations.Parking permits are not transferable and must be removed promptly uponchange of ownership or registrant’s severance from the University. Restrictionto assigned parking zones will begin immediately upon registration ofvehicle and will continue until the permit expires.Special PermitsSpecial permits are issued to faculty, staff and students who are physicallydisabled and are authorized to have special parking privileges. An applicantmust present a doctor’s statement and a notarized statement to UniversityPolice in order to secure a special permit. Persons with special permitsmust park only in areas assigned by University Police Headquarters.Vehicle Registration FeesFaculty, staff and students are assessed a vehicle registration fee upon registrationof their vehicles. All vehicles must be registered.Parking and Traffic RegulationsRules and regulations for operating a vehicle on campus is published in theTraffic-Parking Regulations Guide. The Traffic-Parking Regulations Guidecan be obtained from the Police Headquarters in the Maintenance Building.76
