Departmental AwardsDepartmental Scholarships and Stipends are awarded through the various academicdepartments on campus. Eligibility requirements and the selection ofrecipients are determined at the department level and are based upon the establishedcriteria for each award.Identification CardsAll students are required to have valid identification cards for the semester inwhich they are registered. ID cards are issued to students when they completetheir registration and are not transferable. These cards are the property of the<strong>University</strong> and must be relinquished to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for<strong>Student</strong> Affairs and Enrollment Services when students withdraw from the<strong>University</strong>. Damaged or altered cards are invalid. Valid ID cards are requiredfor admission to specific activities/events. If misused, the card may be renderedinvalid for the remainder of the semester or summer session with regardto specific <strong>University</strong>-sponsored activities. To replace lost or stolen ID cards,students may report to Building 41-A at the Lake Campus and present the followingitems: a copy of the current paid fee receipt and a driver’s license,receipt for a driver’s license, or an old ID card. The cost of replacement is$5.00.SUO PoliceLocation: Maintenance Building, Park CampusHours: 24 HoursTelephone: (504) 286-5290The SUNO Police Department provides protection and calls for services tothe <strong>University</strong> community. It enforces regulated parking on campus. Itresponds to medical emergencies, illegal, suspicious and criminal activitiesand is the lead department in emergency operations. Response Personnel aretrained incident managers. It provides brochures, literature, and pamphletson alcohol and drug abuse, crime prevention and safety tips. Regularseminars are sponsored on community issues, crime prevention, and personalsafety. The goal of every member of the SUNO Police is to provide for asafe , secure, enjoyable and fulfilling <strong>University</strong> experience. The SUOPolice and Safety Departments collaborate to protect individuals andphysical property, respond to daily emergencies and concerns, and developand conduct training and prevention programs.Vehicle Registration<strong>Student</strong>s, faculty, staff, administrators and visitors to the campus must registertheir vehicle in order to park on <strong>University</strong> property. Anyone who failsto park legally shall be subject to penalties as printed on the parking citationsreceived, in accordance with the Parking and Traffic Regulations Guide providedby the Office of <strong>University</strong> Police.75
