<strong>Student</strong>s are responsible for all class work missed, regardless of the reasonsfor the absence. Immediately upon the student’s return to class, a conferenceshould be arranged with the instructor to determine what action, on thestudent’s part, is necessary to compensate for time lost and the materialmissed due to the absence.When a student receives a total of four unexcused absences in a given class,the student may be given the grade of FX at the instructor’s discretion.Since it is the student’s responsibility to be aware of his or her attendance atall times, failure to receive a notice of unexcused absences does not alter hisor her status.Any student penalized for being absent an excessive number of times mayappeal to the Vice Chancellor for <strong>Student</strong> Affairs and Enrollment Services.WITHDRAWAL/RESIGATIO FROM THE UIVERSITYWhen a student leaves the <strong>University</strong> at any time during a semester or asummer session without completing a withdrawal card and without clearing<strong>University</strong> accounts, the student will receive an F grade in all courses. Further,the right to a statement of honorable dismissal will be forfeited,thereby jeopardizing re-entrance to the <strong>University</strong> or transfer to anotheraccredited institution.Refund of FeesRefunds are issued to students who have officially withdrawn from the <strong>University</strong>.The withdrawal date is determined by the Office of the Registraronly. Two different refund methods are used: (1) <strong>Southern</strong> <strong>University</strong> at<strong>New</strong> <strong>Orleans</strong> Institutional Refund Policy and (2) Federal Government RefundPolicy.Tuition and some fees are credited to the student’s account as follows:If <strong>Student</strong> Withdraws: SUO Refund (on-Title IV Funds)Before classes begin 90%First day of class throughthe seventh day of class 75%Eight day of class through thetwelfth day of class 50%After the twelfth day of class 0%For those students who registered at the <strong>University</strong> with the assistance ofFederal Financial Aid, regulations established by the government will beused to calculate refunds.31
