10 Telescopic Flue - Length, Preparation and Installation12929Diagram 10.8Diagram 10.9129771301810.5 Flue FittingIMPORTANT:-The flue seals are sensitive to mineral oil based lubricants. Donot grease the seals. If the seals do need to be lubricateduse only water.During the installation of the flue system, ensure that debrissuch as mortar, filings or swarf are cleared from the fluesystem before completion.Inspect the flue pipes before fitting and do not install damagedor dented flue components. When assembling the flue system, ensure that the innerseals are not damaged, do not install a flue component with adamaged seal. When fitting flue elbows ensure that they are fitted at thecorrect angle to avoid strain, this will ensure that the seal fitscorrectly preventing leakage. With the air duct seams aligned and the flue set to therequired length ‘Y’, mark the securing hole position in the airduct. Drill a 3mm diameter hole at this position, take care notto pierce the inner flue duct. Secure with screw provided andtape the joint, see diagram 10.8.Fit the sealing collar onto the locating ring on the flue terminal, see diagram 10.9.With the flue elbow removed, push the flue assembly intothe wall, externally or internally, until the end of the assemblyprotrudes a short way from the inside face of the wall. Thiswill enable the internal trim ring (if required) to be positionedand allow the flue assembly to be drawn back up to the flueelbow.Secure the flue elbow in position on top of the boiler with thefour screws supplied.Draw the flue assembly from wall and engage the flue ductinto the elbow and butt fit between the air duct and flue elbow.Fit the securing collar into position.Ensuring correct alignment of the flue, mark through two of thepre drilled holes in the securing collar.Remove securing collar and drill two 3mm diameter holes, onein the elbow and one in the air duct, take care not to pierce theinner flue duct. Fit the securing collar and secure with screwsprovided, see diagram 10.10.Slide the internal trim ring back against the wall, securing inplace with a small amount of sealant if required.Insert the flue duct into the air duct terminal assembly, remembering to engage the catch within the terminal. Checkthat the outer rubber sealing collar makes an effective sealagainst the wall face.Diagram 10.1024
