3 Boiler Location, Clearances <strong>and</strong> Ventilation3.1 LocationThis <strong>boiler</strong> is not suitable for outdoor <strong>installation</strong>.This <strong>boiler</strong> may be installed in any room, although particularattention is drawn to the <strong>installation</strong> of a <strong>boiler</strong> in a roomcontaining a bath or shower where reference must be made tothe relevant requirements.This <strong>boiler</strong> is suitable for <strong>installation</strong> in bathroom zones 2 <strong>and</strong>3.In GB this is the current I.E.E. WIRING REGULATIONS <strong>and</strong>BUILDING REGULATIONS.In IE reference should be made to the current edition ofI.S.813 “Domestic Gas Installations” <strong>and</strong> the current ETCIrules.131273.2 ClearancesThe <strong>boiler</strong> should be positioned so that at least the minimumoperational <strong>and</strong> servicing clearances are provided, seediagram 3.1.Additional clearances may be beneficial around the <strong>boiler</strong> for<strong>installation</strong> <strong>and</strong> servicing.For flue <strong>installation</strong>s where external access is not practicable,consideration should be given for the space required to insertthe flue internally, which may necessitate clearance largerthan those specified in diagram 3.1.3.3 Timber Frame BuildingsIf the <strong>boiler</strong> is to be installed in a timber frame building itshould be fitted in accordance with the Institute of GasEngineers document IGE/UP/7/1998. If in doubt seek advicefrom local gas undertaking or Glow-worm.3.4 Combustible MaterialThe <strong>boiler</strong> <strong>and</strong> flue are suitable for <strong>installation</strong> onto <strong>and</strong>through combustible materials provided that:-1) Minimum 5mm clearance is maintained around thecircumference of the flue (air intake).2) The combustible surface <strong>and</strong> fixings are suitable forsupporting the load.3) The minimum clearances from the <strong>boiler</strong> case aremaintained.Diagram 3.13.5 Room VentilationThe <strong>boiler</strong> is room sealed so a permanent air vent is notrequired.3.6 Cupboard or Compartment VentilationDue to the high efficiency <strong>and</strong> hence low casing temperatureof this <strong>boiler</strong>, cupboard or compartment ventilation is notnecessary.Leave existing air vents.9
