<strong>Dell</strong>'s Commitment to Global Citizenship Recognizedby Dow Jones <strong>Sustainability</strong> IndexFor the seventh straight year, <strong>Dell</strong>has been named to the Dow Jones<strong>Sustainability</strong> Index, improving ourscore by 14 percent from last year.This index ranks companies basedon how they account for issues such ascorporate governance, customer relationships,environmental management, labor practices and corporatecitizenship. This accomplishment places <strong>Dell</strong> in theleading 10 percent for sustainability, out of the largest2,500 companies in the Dow Jones Global Index.This global index is used by investors and otherstakeholders to evaluate sustainability practicesof large companies.Responsibility Extends to Our Supplier Partners<strong>Dell</strong> expects our standards for responsible growth, ethicalbehavior and workplace conditions to extend to the employeesof our supplier partners. To ensure this, <strong>Dell</strong> requires our supplierpartners to meet several international standards for workplaceconditions, safety and environmental practices. Thesestandards also include adherence to <strong>Dell</strong>'s supplier principlesand our industry's principles as outlined in the ElectronicIndustry Code of Conduct (EICC). Anumber of programs help teach employees about topics rangingfrom good nutrition and staying active to condition managementand disease prevention. Employees in the United Statesand other countries have access to information fairs, Webresources with health information, and preventive healthscreenings. This commitment extends into <strong>Dell</strong>'s efforts toaddress the health challenges of several diseases, includingjuvenile diabetes, breast cancer and HIV/AIDS. For more information,see "Employee Health and Safety Program Highlights"on page 47.HIV and AIDS PreventionThe global HIV/AIDS pandemic affects many people worldwideand may impact our employees, our customers, our suppliersand the communities where we work and live. <strong>Dell</strong> recognizesthat businesses can play a significant role in helping to fightthe spread of HIV/AIDS in countries that are at the highest riskfor new infections, such as those in some Asian markets. Toaddress this challenge, <strong>Dell</strong> continued our efforts in HIV/AIDSprevention during fiscal year 2006.<strong>Dell</strong> continues our relationship with the Global BusinessCoalition (GBC) on HIV/AIDS and seeks their advice inthis effort.
