In addition tonew Dell jobs for the community, Dell suppliers are often hiredfrom community businesses or by facilities new to the community,which creates many more jobs than just those at Dell. Dellhas also located our facilities in a number of communitiesseeking new corporate investments to create growth, includingNorth Carolina's Piedmont Triad region, Halle, Germany andGlasgow, Scotland. According to the Piedmont Triad Partnershipin North Carolina, Dell's new presence also resulted in at leastseven new logistics, packaging and automation firms locatingin the area. According to the regional economic developmentpartnership, these related businesses are creating several hundrednew jobs, in addition to the jobs at Dell.Cultural EnrichmentLast year, Dell teamed with the National Archives and RecordsAdministration (NARA) and the Foundation for the NationalArchives on "Public Vaults," a permanent exhibition designed toeducate the public about the breadth and depth of nationaldocuments available for exploration. The free, public exhibitionin Washington, D.C., features Dell systems equipped with interactivesoftware, disguised as a giant vault filled with boxes ofrecords. Integrated within traditional case displays andmechanical interactive units, Dell touch-screen monitors createthe illusion that visitors are actually combing through the morethan 1,000 historical archives. Visitors can also see materialsand evidence preserved from famous investigations such asthose on Unidentified Flying Objects, the Kennedy assassination,the Kent State shootings and Watergate. Also, with thetouch of a button, visitors can instantly translate documents.For example, visitors can translate records from the NurembergTrials, which occurred after World War II, from Germanto English.Community WellnessThe health and well-being of Dell employees is of great importanceto Dell. As a result, we are increasingly looking at waysto foster health and wellness understanding, including varioushealth awareness, promotion and education programs, as wellas making some routine and available medical testing opportunitiesmore accessible.
