Project Learn and POWERHOUR provide after school learning experiences for low-performing,disadvantaged children between ages six and 14.Tiger Woods Learning Center<strong>Dell</strong> is one of the founding partners of the Tiger WoodsLearning Center (TWLC), a youth-education facility that representsthe vision of Tiger Woods and his goal to provide criticalyouth-development programs in Orange County, California. <strong>Dell</strong>works with TWLC to provide young people from diverse backgroundswith an interactive program that improves individualaptitude in reading, math, science and technology. With theseskills, children develop personal accountability, independenceand resilience, leading to greater knowledge of education andcareer options. The 35,000-square-foot facility is outfitted withthe latest technology in a completely wireless environment. TBEC's Initiative to Expand TexasScholars is aimed at increasing the number of students whoattend college from McLennan, Travis and Williamson Countiesin Texas.Through the Junior Achievement program, <strong>Dell</strong> employees inOhio visit a class to introduce children to basic business concepts.By teaching the children about the types of businessesin a community and how businesses operate, the employeesform a bridge between business and education. <strong>Dell</strong> employeeshave taught the Junior Achievement curriculum in severalschools in Ohio and in Northern Kentucky.Fairy Tale Hour<strong>Dell</strong> Brazil employees supported two low-income schoolsin <strong>Dell</strong> Brazil communities with the donation of hundreds ofbooks in early 2005. <strong>Dell</strong> employees organized the book driveand delivered the books to the schools by dressing as favoritefairy tale characters and visiting the schools to read stories tothe children.Online Literacy in TennesseeIn Tennessee, <strong>Dell</strong> partners with Nashville Public Television,underwriting the Online Literacy Initiative, which is designedto increase computer literacy among at-risk children and theirparents by presenting information to raise awareness ofaccess to online technology, training programs, safety tips,and other resources.Oklahoma City Mobile Computer Lab<strong>Dell</strong>’s participation in Oklahoma City includes the donation ofa mobile computer lab to Wheeler Elementary School (K-6), thefirst school to undergo improvements through Oklahoma City’sMAPS for Kids project—a local restoration and renovation initiativeto modernize all Oklahoma City public schools for a 21 stcentury education environment.<strong>Dell</strong> Brazil employees, dressed as fairy tale characters, visitwith children at a school in Brazil.
