The DH system will bereactivated if the ship is moved to a periodically unattended state.2.<strong>10</strong> Hull Cathodic Protection SystemThe vessel is equipped with a conventional, marine impressed current cathodic protection system for hullpreservation. The system is monitored and maintained as required. It is operated in accordance withstandard maritime practices. At times, the system may be supplemented by external cathodic protectionas described in the Reserve Fleet Manual.2.11 Security SystemsThe ship is served by two separate sensing and alarm systems. The first system includes numerousintrusion, flooding, and fire sensors. The second system includes an intrusion sensor per TechnicalSpecifications as well as a smaller number <strong>of</strong> flooding and heat detectors. Alarms are transmitted to the<strong>of</strong>f-site monitoring stations (a separate station for each system), which is then responsible for contactingdesignated NSS personnel. In addition, a fire alarm on the first system will activate internal strobes, anaudible alarm, and a recorded warning; these annunciators are installed throughout the normally occupiedareas <strong>of</strong> the ship.2.11.1 Camera Surveillance SystemA Camera Surveillance System is installed to allow video monitoring <strong>of</strong> the ship internal andexternal areas.2.11.2 Security Entrance DoorThe normal entrance to the ship is operated by a key fob by activating entry and exit panels. The foboperates to communicate with the door closure via a reader pad using passive radio identificationfrequency. After opening the door closure ensures the door returns to the closed position. In anemergency, the door can be opened from the inside by an emergency override switch panel. Thesystem records the date and time that the individual holding the fob enters and exits the ship.2.12 General AlarmThe General Alarm System was returned to service after repair and testing. The system is powered by abattery/trickle charger located in the C-Deck Battery Room. The General Alarm is activated by a Manualactivation switch in Stateroom A-18.Rev. VI 23
