<strong>UNISCI</strong> Discussion Papers, Nº 33 (Octubre / October 2013) ISSN 1696-2206INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORSThe thematic scope of <strong>UNISCI</strong> Discussion Papers is that of the International Relations and Security,both un<strong>de</strong>rstood in a broad sense and from a multidimensional approach, open to different theoreticalperspectives. The Editorial Committee welcomes proposals of original research articles, according tothe procedure explained below.Article proposalsProposals should be sent as an attached MS Word for Windows file to unisci@cps.ucm.es. The usuallength is 15-40 pages for articles and 2-5 pages for book reviews, in 12 points Times New Romanfont, single-spaced.The author’s full name, professional category, institution, main research areas, postal address an<strong>de</strong>-mail should be stated in the body of the message. 4 On the title page, authors should inclu<strong>de</strong> anabstract of 100-150 words, as well as several keywords that accurately <strong>de</strong>scribe the contents of thearticle. Images and graphs should be inclu<strong>de</strong>d in the text and also attached as separate files (.bmp, .gifor .jpg.).Refereeing and selection<strong>UNISCI</strong> Discussion Papers is a refereed journal: the “double-blind refereeing” system is used.Consequently, authors should not inclu<strong>de</strong> any personal i<strong>de</strong>ntification in the manuscript. Each article isreviewed by two external referees.The criteria for article selection are the following:• Relevance of the topic.• Theoretical rigour and coherence.• A<strong>de</strong>quation of the research methods to the objectives.• Originality of the sources.• Contribution to the existing literature.• Clarity of style.• Compliance with the formatting rules.The checklist for referees is available at www.ucm.es/info/unisci. Authors will be informed of themotives of the <strong>de</strong>cision, as well as of the corrections (if any) recommen<strong>de</strong>d by the referees andrequired for the article to be published.CopyrightOnce an article is accepted for publication, its copyright resi<strong>de</strong>s with <strong>UNISCI</strong>, notwithstanding therights of the author according to the applicable legislation. All materials can be freely cited, distributedor used for teaching purposes, provi<strong>de</strong>d that their original source is properly mentioned. However,those wishing to republish an article must contact the Editorial Committee for permission; in that case,its previous publication in <strong>UNISCI</strong> Discussion Papers must be clearly stated.4 If the article is accepted and published, these <strong>de</strong>tails will appear in the title page in or<strong>de</strong>r to allow rea<strong>de</strong>rs tocontact the authors.243
