Axiata Group Berhad (242188-H) Annual Report 2012Relationship with AuditorsThe BAC manages the relationship with the externalauditors on behalf of the Board. The BAC considers thereappointment, remuneration and terms of engagementof the external auditors annually. Further information onthe role of the BAC in relation to both internal auditorsand external auditors are stated in the BAC Report onpages 106 to 113 of this Annual Report. A summary ofthe activities of the BAC during the year are set out onpages 106 to 108 of this Annual Report.In safeguarding and supporting the external auditor’sindependence and objectivity, Axiata has determinedpolicies as to what non-audit services can be providedby external auditors of the Group and the approvalprocess related to them. Under these policies andguidelines, non-audit services can be offered by externalauditors of the Group if there are clear efficiencies andvalue added benefits to the Group. These procedures arein place to ensure that neither their independence northeir objectivity is put at risk, and steps are taken toensure that this does not impede the external auditorsaudit works.
