MSN-Financial AidBELLIN COLLEGE CATALOG2011-12PhilosophyThe primary responsibility for financing a college education rests with the student and his/her family. Thepurpose of the financial aid program is to assist those students who might not otherwise be able to afford agraduate education by providing financial support. The purpose of the financial aid office is to help thestudent locate and receive all the financial resources for which he/she is eligible.Sources of Financial AidThe list below outlines the Federal, State and <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> funded financial aid programs. Source and amountawarded is based upon the student’s financial need and other eligibility requirements, if applicable.GrantsMSN students do not qualify for federal or state grant programs.LoansLoans must be repaid, with interest. Loans are not need-based unless. The eligibility requirements areset by the donor. An application is required, the aid may be need or non-need based, and the amountawarded varies.Endowed and Current ScholarshipsThe <strong>College</strong> administers a scholarship program through endowments and annual gifts made by individuals,businesses, or other local organizations/groups. A small amount of funds are available each year to awardto MSN students based upon financial need. Students who have filed the FAFSA are automaticallyconsidered for scholarships.Full-time/Part-time Status (Academic Load)Graduate (MSN):• Full-time enrollment ...................... must be registered for 6 or more credits in an eight-week term• Half-time enrollment ..................... 3 to 5 credits in a term• Less-than-half-time enrollment..... 1 to 2 credits in a termTo be eligible for a federal student loan or to defer repayment of a federal student loan, an MSN student mustbe enrolled at least half-time in a given term. Credits can be counted only in the term in which the course isregistered.• Students must be continuously enrolled for at least one course per semester in order to remain in theprogram.• Students needing to take a semester leave must follow the Academic Leave Policy.92
