A student must be successful in all course components (i.e. class, lab,and/or clinical) to receive a passing grade. The course outcomes are represented in all course components.The grade calculation process will be consistent across the undergraduate curriculum. Within each course,individual projects/exams/assignments will be recorded to one decimal point without rounding (for example,92.37 will be recorded as 92.3). The final composite course grade will not be rounded (for example, a 92.8 willreceive an AB).Repeated CoursesStudents may repeat a <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> course in which they obtained a grade of C or better for the purpose ofgrade betterment. The repeated course grade is recorded on the transcript and is the only grade calculatedinto the GPA. Financial aid may be obtained for nursing courses that are repeated.Grade Point AverageGrade point average (GPA) is a quantitative measure of academic achievement and is computed on the basis ofcredits earned and grades achieved. Nursing course grades taken at <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> are used to compute theGPA each semester. Grade point averages are computed by multiplying credits by grade value and dividing thesum of course grades by the sum of credits. Grade point averages are computed at the end of each semesteror summer session for all courses taken at <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> during that period. The GPA is on a four-point scale.Although most students elect to take general education courses at UWGB, they may take their generaleducation courses at another accredited 2 or 4 year institution of higher learning during enrollment at <strong>Bellin</strong><strong>College</strong> and transfer these credits to <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> by submitting an official transcript of grades received.Transfer credits are not utilized in the computation of the <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> grade point average.Academic HonorsThe Dean’s List is composed of students who have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or better in <strong>Bellin</strong><strong>College</strong> courses, are in good disciplinary standing, and carry at least 6 <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> credits.Highest Honors (Summa Cum Laude) .................. 3.90 - 4.00High Honors (Magna Cum Laude) ........................ 3.75 - 3.89Honors (Cum Laude) ............................................ 3.50 - 3.74Semester honors are announced following the completion of fall semester and spring semester.Fall grades are used to calculate the honors listing for the May Commencement Ceremony. Summer gradesare used to calculate the honors listing for the October Commencement Ceremony. Graduation honors will berecorded on the final transcript. Students must be enrolled at least half-time to graduate with honors.39
