BELLIN COLLEGE CATALOG2011-12RS 430C: WOMEN’S IMAGING – CLINICAL - 2 creditsStudents in this course will be assigned to an accredited mammography facility offering a full range ofwomen’s health services. Emphasis will be placed on breast cancer detection technologies includingmammography and stereotactic localization. Additionally, students will learn the procedural skills of dualenergy x-ray absorbtiometry (DXA). Students should expect to develop entry-level skills necessary in acontemporary Women’s Imaging department and in doing so, will begin preparation for certification inmammography and DXA scanning.Prerequisite(s): Senior standing in radiologic science; all previously required courses.RS 440: SENIOR PRACTICUM - 3 creditsClinical Radiography V provides the student with essential clinical education needed in the practice ofradiography. Clinical rotations will take place in a hospital/clinic setting. The student will continue to masterthe skills related to the functions and procedures performed during radiographic examinations. This coursewill continue to place emphasis on an environment that is ever changing and encourages continueddevelopment of routine and non-routine radiographic procedures.Prerequisite(s): Senior standing in radiologic science; all previously required courses.RS 450: SENIOR PRACTICUM - 3 creditsClinical Radiography VI provides the student with the necessary clinical education needed in the practice ofradiography. Clinical rotations will take place in a hospital/clinic setting. The student will continue to masterthe skills and experience related to the functions and procedures performed during radiographic examinations.Emphasis will be placed upon critical thinking skills in a complex medical imaging environment. Clinicalexperiences in this course will compliment the completion of the student’s portfolio. Students will completethe required American Registry of Radiologic Technologist clinical competencies during this course.Prerequisite(s): Senior standing in radiologic science; all previously required courses.Military Science Program Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)Students interested in the Military Science Program should contact the Admissions Department for additionalinformation. Military science is concerned primarily with developing leadership competence for success incivilian and military occupations. Students who want to develop these skills pursue studies in military science,in addition to the radiologic science major.Students register for these courses at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) and classes are taught at St.Norbert <strong>College</strong>. The military science courses (MILS) consist of a core curriculum of military skills andprofessional knowledge integrated in both basic and advanced courses.These courses support educational goals by emphasizing personal depth and developing qualities necessary forleadership in civilian occupations as well as providing college-trained officers for the United States Army, ArmyReserve, and Army National Guard.Graduate School of Nursing (MSN)Adult Nurse Practitioner TrackBeginning in the Fall of 2012, a Masters of Nursing (MSN) Family Nurse Practitioner Track will be offered. The48-credit program prepares graduates to function as licensed independent practitioners in primarycare. Students complete courses that focus on the provision of the full spectrum of health care services acrossthe lifespan.
