BELLIN COLLEGE CATALOG2011-12Parking/TransportationAll students are responsible for transportation to and from the <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> campus, general educationcampus, field trips, and clinical experiences. On campus parking is available free of charge. While attendingclinical, students must adhere to the parking regulations specific to the clinical locations.HousingStudents make their own housing arrangements while attending <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Students who are duallyenrolled in general education courses may explore housing options available at those campuses.Health Services<strong>Bellin</strong> Health System – Employee Health (Employee Health) is the primary provider of student health careservices for <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Upon acceptance to <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong>, the student’s pre-entrance physical,immunization and health records will be reviewed by the Employee Health Office.Employee Health is available to provide students with such things as yearly TB screening and flu shots.Students assume responsibility for all health costs that are not a part of the routine student health services.Such costs might include health problems present prior to admission to the <strong>College</strong>, long-term illness, surgicaltreatment, prescription medications, dental and eye care, illness or injury. Costs of hospitalization or physiciancare beyond those covered by insurance are the responsibility of the student and the student’s family.Health Care InsuranceHealth care/hospitalization insurance coverage is recommended for all <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> students. Studentsassume responsibility for all health costs that are not part of the routine health services provided by <strong>Bellin</strong>Health System – Employee Health.Educational Facilities<strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> administrative offices, classrooms, library, computer laboratory, Health Science Resource Center(skills and simulation labs) are located at 3201 Eaton Road, Green Bay, WI 54311. Clinical assignments aredetermined based on course and site availability.Library ResourcesThe Phil & Betsy Hendrickson Library houses a collection of books, journals, newspapers, and audiovisualmaterials covering medicine, nursing, radiologic technology, and other heath-related subjects. Computerswith access to the Internet, online catalogs, and databases are also available. Access to some libraryresources is available to students via Moodle. The library is staffed by a professional librarian and assistantsand offers the following services:• Reference Services: The library provides ready reference services.• Interlibrary Loan (ILL): Faculty, students and staff at <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> can request interlibrary loan servicesin which the library staff can obtain books, journals, and government documents not in the librarycollection from other libraries.• Library Instruction: New students are provided information regarding library policies and procedures,student use and instruction on literature searching using online databases.• Photocopying/Printing: The student printer is located in the library and in the adjacent computerresource center.• Group Study Rooms: The library has three study rooms that may be reserved by students. These roomsare intended for group student our audiovisual viewing by two or more students. Remote controls andan audio/video laptop cables are available for check-out at the circulation desk.9

The laptops may only be used inthe library.Computer LabAll computers have access to the Internet and Microsoft Office 2010. The computers also provide access to anumber of educational programs for nursing.Students are expected to understand and comply with the <strong>College</strong> policies regarding use of the Internet andemail. Failure to comply with these policies may result in consequences up to and including dismissal from the<strong>College</strong>.A jump drive is highly recommended when using the computers. Saving to the hard drive, downloadingprograms, or changing computer setting is prohibited.Food ServiceThere is food service available at the college campus. The “BC Express” is the cafe’ available that provideschoices such as sandwiches, soups, salads, snacks etc. The hours of operation are posted at the <strong>College</strong>.Access to vending machines, microwaves, and refrigerators are always available.Day CareEncompass Early Education and Care, Inc. (Green Bay) offers a discounted rate for childcare. Informationregarding rates and availability can be obtained by calling 920-436-7540.Inclement Weather/Class CancellationsIf the hours of <strong>College</strong> operation is altered (cancelation of classes, labs, and/or clinicals) details will becommunicated via the <strong>College</strong> Information Line, website, email notifications and/or local radio and televisionstations.• Information Line: Information about any closings will typically be available as early as 5:00 a.m. for dayclasses, labs, and clinical; and typically by 1:00 p.m. for evening classes, labs, and clinicals (920-433-1933). TV and radio stations frequently do not begin announcing closings until 6:00 a.m.• Website: Check www.bellincollege.edu for cancellations.• Radio/Television Stations: When the <strong>College</strong> is totally closed (all course and extracurricular activitieshave been canceled) due to weather, it will be announced on local radio stations:WIXX 101.1-FMWNCY 100.3-FMWTAQ 1360-AMWDUZ 1400-AMand on the following TV stations:WBAY Channel 2WFRV Channel 5WLUK Channel 11WGBA Channel 26Student OrganizationsFormal and informal social functions are sponsored throughout the year by students, faculty and servicegroups of the <strong>College</strong>. <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong> students may also participate in social and extracurricular activities on thecampus if they are enrolled for general education courses.10
