BELLIN COLLEGE CATALOG2011-12Residency RequirementA minimum of 29 credits in nursing must be earned at <strong>Bellin</strong> <strong>College</strong>.Commencement• Commencement occurs at the conclusion of the spring semester. Students who complete programrequirements in December are invited to participate in the following spring ceremony.• Students who have a minimum of 34 credits completed at the conclusion of the spring semester mayparticipate in the May commencement ceremony. However, students may not have more than oneLeadership Integration Project (NUR 799) remaining to graduate and participate in the commencementceremony. The one outstanding LIP credit must be completed in the 4 week extension immediatelyfollowing the initial term in which the course was registered.• Diplomas are issued approximately one month following the commencement ceremony, provided allcoursework has been completed.MSN-Program Outcomes/ObjectivesProgram OutcomesAt the conclusion of the program, the student will have demonstrated:• Use leadership principles within a specialty role.• Synthesize theories and advanced knowledge from nursing and related disciplines.• Integrate research and scholarship.• Evaluate systems fro quality enhancement opportunities.• Influence policy development in promoting the nursing profession and the health of the public.Course/Credit RequirementsThe Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree requires a minimum of 38 credits of core courses, specialtycourses, electives and a Leadership Integration Project for graduation.Course DeliveryCourses are delivered in eight-week terms. There are two terms each semester. Courses ae delivered both online(web-based) and via compressed scheduling with a mix of face-to-face meetings and use of electronictechnology.Curriculum PlanningThe MSN Program Director provides academic advising to students to assist them in planning a programconsistent with their personal goals and the <strong>College</strong> requirements. This process begins prior to enrollment andoccurs as necessary throughout the program.97
