Dallas 20, Houston 17, OT
AT&T Stadium, October 5, 2014
Attendance: 91,159
The Dallas Cowboys took an overtime win 20-
17 over the Houston Texans Sunday. Dallas got on
the board first in the second quarter with a 33-yard
Dan Bailey field goal - the only score of the first half
for both sides.
Houston opened the second half with their best
drive of the game, finishing the drive with a 15-yard
Arian Foster rushing score to take the lead. The
Cowboys immediately answered, capitalizing on
some Tony Romo magic as he nimbly escaped a
J.J. Watt sack and connected with Terrance
Williams on a 43-yard bomb in the end zone.
Dallas scored again in the fourth quarter, capitalizing
on a short field set up by a 38-yard Dwayne
Harris punt return with a two-yard Romo-to-Bryant
touchdown pass. The score gave Dallas a 10-point
lead with under 10:00 to go in the game. The
Cowboys defense could not hold the lead however,
and after a Randy Bullock 29-yard field goal,
Houston marched down the field and scored on a
Foster one-yard run with 0:41 remaining. Dallas
had an opportunity to end the game in regulation,
but Bailey missed a long field goal try in the waning
seconds.
The Dallas defense held strong on the Texans
opening drive in overtime, and the Cowboys
offense did not give Houston another chance with
the ball as they drove down the field, aided by
Bryant’s spectacular leaping grab in tight coverage
for 37 yards on third down, and Bailey redeemed
himself with a 49-yard boot to win the game.
Dallas 30, Seattle 23
CenturyLink Field, October 12, 2014
Attendance: 68,432
The Dallas Cowboys went into Seattle and
took a 30-23 win from the home team. The
Seahawks took the opening possession down
the field for a field goal followed by a special
teams touchdown off a blocked punt return. The
Cowboys answered the bell with a two-yard
Gavin Escobar touchdown reception in the back
of the end zone. Dallas added a Dan Bailey 42-
yard field goal and a Jason Witten three-yard
touchdown catch before halftime, taking a 17-10
lead into the half.
Bailey’s field goal gave him 100 for his career
and made him the most accurate kicker in NFL
history with a 91.1 field goal percentage, and
Witten’s touchdown catch gave him 900 for his
career, making him only the second tight end in
NFL history to catch 900 passes.
After both teams punted their opening possessions
of the second half, Seattle got the ball
and a short field when Dwayne Harris muffed a
punt and the Seahawks took over at the Dallas
14-yard line. Russell Wilson capitalized with a
nine-yard touchdown run and then Steven
Hauschka added a 33-yard field goal to recapture
the lead for Seattle. Bailey and Hauschka
traded a pair of field goals before DeMarco
Murray broke free for a 15-yard touchdown run
to give Dallas a late 27-23 lead. The Dallas
defense stood strong again, stopping the
Seahawks on a fourth down try and giving the
team a 30-23 lead after a quick Bailey 31-yard
field goal. Rolando McClain sealed the victory
with an interception of Wilson on the final drive.
