Arizona 28, Dallas 17
AT&T Stadium, November 2, 2014
Attendance: 85,688
Brandon Weeden started his first game at
quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys as the team
dropped their second straight contest at home,
losing 28-17 to the Arizona Cardinals. The
Cowboys defense started the game on a high
note with rookie cornerback Tyler Patmon returning
a Carson Palmer interception 58 yards to the
end zone. After capturing the early lead, the
Dallas defense again stood strong, halting the
Cardinals offense. Weeden led the Cowboys on
a nine-play drive that ended with a 52-yard Dan
Bailey field goal. The Cardinals offense awoke in
the second quarter, scoring 14 unanswered
points on Palmer touchdown passes to John
Carlson and Jaron Brown, taking a slim fourpoint
lead into the half.
Both defenses were stout to open the second
half, with the Cardinals punting on both their third
quarter possessions and the Cowboys punting
on two of their three possessions, the third ending
in a Brandon Weeden interception by Tyrann
Mathieu. Arizona scored touchdowns on two
consecutive possessions in the fourth quarter
coming off Dallas turnovers, the first when Dallas
failed to convert a fourth down and the second
on Weeden’s second interception of the game.
Those two touchdowns by Andre Ellington and
Marion Grice put the game out of reach, despite
a late touchdown connection from Weeden-to-
Dez Bryant.
Dallas 31, Jacksonville 17
Wembley Stadium, November 9, 2014
Attendance: 83,603
The Dallas Cowboys played their first ever
regular season game overseas in London and
ended a two-game losing streak with an impressive
31-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Dallas offense was firing on all cylinders due
in large part to the return of quarterback Tony
Romo, who in his first game back from injury
threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns in a
near-perfect performance. The Cowboys got the
scoring started on the opening drive of the game
with a 54-yard Dan Bailey field goal, his fifth
make from 50-plus yards on the year. The
Jaguars answered the score on their first possession,
driving down the field in nine plays and
punching the ball into the end zone with a
Denard Robinson two-yard run. The Cowboys
then began an aerial assault, connecting on a
Romo-to-Jason Witten two-yard touchdown pass
and then cashing in two Dez Bryant catch-andruns
through the Jaguars defense for touchdowns,
building a 24-7 lead before halftime.
After the Jaguars opening score, the
Cowboys defense proved difficult to decipher,
blockading the Jacksonville offense on 11 consecutive
possessions, forcing a turnover on
three of them, and working in unison with the
Dallas offense to hold the big lead. Dallas added
a touchdown on a Joseph Randle 40-yard
breaching run through the heart of the Jaguars
defense, putting the finishing touches on a 31-17
victory following a late safety and Jaguars touchdown
scamper by D. Robinson. With the victory,
the Cowboys improved to 7-3 heading into their
bye week.
