PLAYERS
NFL Athletic Trainer Program
The Cowboys partnered with General Electric and Ben
Hogan Sports Medicine in the 2014-15 season to provide
certified Athletic Trainers for the football programs
of 12 Arlington ISD middle schools as part of a matching
grant opportunity with the NFL Foundation. Over the
course of fall 2014, Ben Hogan trainers completed
baseline concussion testing on the middle school football
players and attended games and practices in order
to detect and monitor the treatment of concussions and
other sports-related injuries.
COMMUNITY
OUTREACH
NFL Foundation
In December 2012, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
appointed Cowboys executive vice president and chief
brand officer Charlotte Jones Anderson as chair of the
newly-formed NFL Foundation – the first woman to ever
lead the charitable foundation of a major sports league.
In this position, Anderson oversees what was formerly
NFL Charities and the NFL Youth Football Fund and its
awarding of more than $23 million in grants annually to
support youth and high school football programs, player
health and safety efforts and community outreach initiatives.
Holiday Hospital Visits
YOUTH OUTREACH
Under the guidance of Gene Jones, the entire Cowboys
team has conducted annual Christmas visits to local
children’s hospitals for the past 26 years. During the
2014 visits to four area hospitals, Cowboys players and
cheerleaders delivered “game socks” loaded with
Cowboys goodies and toys courtesy of the team and
the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation to nearly
800 children seeking treatment over the holiday season.
M ake- A- Wish
Since 1992, the Cowboys have partnered with the Make-
A-Wish Foundation of North Texas to grant more than 200
wishes of youth from 39 different states. These “Wish
Kids” – youth suffering from a variety of life-threatening illnesses
– are invited to tour the team’s Valley Ranch training
facility, watch practice and meet their favorite players
before coming to AT&T Stadium with their families to be
the Cowboys VIP guest during a home game.
