Fuel up to Play 60 Hometown Grant
In 2014, the Cowboys and partner Dairy
MAX, local Dairy Council and Fuel Up to Play
60 program implementer, awarded the
Arlington Independent School District the
first-ever Hometown Grant – a $10,000
grant intended to support and make a big
impact on good nutrition and physical activity
programming in schools. The 2014
Hometown Grant was utilized for the purchase
of Fuel Up to Play 60 playground stencils
– stencils that incorporate educational
messages and encourage physical activity –
for seven Arlington elementary schools.
NFL PLAY 60 FITNESSGRAM ® Project
Since 2009, the NFL has partnered with The Cooper
Institute® – a worldwide leader in preventative medicine
research – to supply each of the league’s 32 member
clubs with FITNESSGRAM licenses to distribute to
local schools and community organizations. Developed
in 1982 by The Cooper Institute, FITNESSGRAM is the
nation’s leading tool in assessing and tracking student
fitness levels, mandated in the state of Texas and
adopted by the Presidential Youth Fitness Program. The
Cowboys work with The Cooper Institute locally by hosting
a private training at AT&T Stadium for the team’s
FITNESSGRAM site leaders and by promoting the tool
through events like Dallas Cowboys Rookie Club
appearances. Most recently in 2014, the Rookie Club
visited Pantego Christian Academy in Arlington to congratulate
the school’s physical educator on being
named the Cowboys FITNESSGRAM champion for her outstanding dedication to the project.
PLAY 60 Challenge
Each year the Cowboys team up with the American Heart
Association, Reliant Energy and Fuel Up to Play 60 to kick off
the PLAY 60 Challenge Powered by Reliant – a free program
downloadable online wherein students are “challenged” to document
their 60 minutes of physical activity each day in the
Student Planner and teachers and family members are encouraged
to help by incorporating physical activity in the classroom
and at home for six weeks. The 2014 PLAY 60 Challenge kickoff
event took place at Stonewall Jackson Elementary School in Dallas and featured special appearances
by cornerback Brandon Carr and mascot Rowdy.
Dallas Cowboys PLAY 60 Fitness Zones
Dallas Cowboys PLAY 60 Fitness Zones are fun,
Cowboys-branded spaces that come fully loaded
