• Further the Prophet (a.s.) told to Ziyad bin Qalaad,’ O Ziyaad! When you<br />

are appointed to a position <strong>of</strong> authority by cruel rulers show kindness to<br />

your momin brothers. Perhaps that would become the cause <strong>of</strong> your<br />

deliverence!’<br />

• It is authentically narrated from Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s),’ <strong>The</strong>re is no<br />

cruel and unjust ruler who is not having a momin administrator on his<br />

rolls. <strong>Al</strong>lah administers justice to momin shias through him.and saves<br />

them from the cruelty <strong>of</strong> the tyrant. But the reward for that momin on the<br />

day <strong>of</strong> Judgement would be the least. Of all other momins. This, because<br />

<strong>of</strong> his proximity to the tyrant during his living years!’<br />

• Hazrat Luqman (a.s.) used to visit kings and nobles to give them sermons<br />

and advice. He used to take pity on them observing them surrounded by<br />

umpteen calamities. He used to wonder over their craving for the worldly<br />

riches. He always derived lessons from the aberrations in their characters<br />

and behaviors. This way the Prophet (a.s.) used to keep his worldly<br />

desires in control.<br />

ABOUT GOOD MORALS<br />

• It is authentically narrated from Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s.) that the Faith <strong>of</strong><br />

such momins is perfect who have excellent morals.<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Prophet <strong>of</strong> Islam (a.s.) says,” On the Day <strong>of</strong> Judgement nothing would be<br />

rated better than the good behavior <strong>of</strong> the people.”<br />

• It is narrated from Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s.) that in the eyes <strong>of</strong> <strong>Al</strong>lah no action <strong>of</strong> a<br />

person is more acceptable than making others one’s followers through good<br />

behavior.<br />

• In another tradition it is mentioned that good moral behavior takes one to the<br />

status <strong>of</strong> the person who had fasted all his life and <strong>of</strong>fered prayers late into the<br />

nights.<br />

• It is narrated from the Prophet <strong>of</strong> Islam (a.s.),” <strong>The</strong> major cause <strong>of</strong> my people<br />

achieving Heaven will be abstention from things termed taboo by <strong>Al</strong>lah and<br />

adopting piety and good behavior.”<br />

• Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s.) has said that good moral behavior melts away sins like<br />

the rays <strong>of</strong> sunlight melt the snow.<br />

• He further said that doing good to fellowbeings and living amicably amongst the<br />

people, keeping the dwellings inhabited enhances longevity.<br />

• In another tradition he said that good behavior is a Gift from <strong>Al</strong>lah. <strong>The</strong>re are<br />

certain traits <strong>of</strong> behavior that are hereditary and there are certain others that are<br />

cultivated by the person. <strong>The</strong> narrator asked,’ Ya Hazrat! Which is better <strong>of</strong> the<br />

two?’ <strong>The</strong> Imam (a.s.) replied,’<strong>The</strong> traits that are there in the person from birth<br />

that they are the fortunate ones whom <strong>Al</strong>lah has endowed with these good traits<br />

and he cannot act contrary to these. One who adopts good traits by practice has to
