It also presents 36 recommendati<strong>on</strong>s for taking digitalisati<strong>on</strong> in our stride,<br />

some <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> most important relating to questi<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> training, reclassificati<strong>on</strong><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> reskilling, gender equality, tax instruments, investment, new forms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

work, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> right to disc<strong>on</strong>necti<strong>on</strong>, etc.<br />

This exercise served as a catalyst for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> French trade uni<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> prompted<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m to deepen <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir own analyses <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> strategies in relati<strong>on</strong> to development<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> digital <str<strong>on</strong>g>ec<strong>on</strong>omy</str<strong>on</strong>g>; each <strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m prepared a specific c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong>, <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong>s are appended to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> report.<br />

In parallel, a series <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> initiatives were taken by individual trade uni<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

L’UGICT-CGT (<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> CGT’s general uni<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> engineers, managerial staff <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

technicians) held, in October 2015, a seminar in Paris <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> topic ‘How to<br />

ensure that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> digital revoluti<strong>on</strong> is syn<strong>on</strong>ymous with social, ec<strong>on</strong>omic <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

envir<strong>on</strong>mental progress?’ At this ga<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ring, Marie-José Kotlicki presented her<br />

report prepared for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ec<strong>on</strong>omic, social <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> envir<strong>on</strong>mental committee<br />

entitled ‘<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> new relati<strong>on</strong>ships between industry <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> services in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> digital<br />

era 48 . Then, <strong>on</strong> 26 November 2015 <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> UGICT-CGT organised ano<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r event<br />

to assess <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> progress <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>its</str<strong>on</strong>g> campaign <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> right to disc<strong>on</strong>necti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

reducti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> working time (CGT 2015) (see box below).<br />

The CFDT too has been paying attenti<strong>on</strong> to new trade uni<strong>on</strong> practices <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> uses<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> informati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> communicati<strong>on</strong>s technology. ‘The emergence <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> internet <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>its</str<strong>on</strong>g> democratisati<strong>on</strong> over recent decades have speeded up <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> transformati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

producti<strong>on</strong> systems in companies. Already <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> development <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> ICT, with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

mechanisati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> automati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> producti<strong>on</strong>, had led to radically different ways<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> working. The new means <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> electr<strong>on</strong>ic communicati<strong>on</strong> reinforced this process<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>, in additi<strong>on</strong>, enabled a structural transformati<strong>on</strong> through a stress up<strong>on</strong><br />

individuality: <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> introducti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> managerial administrati<strong>on</strong>; accelerati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

methods <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> procedures; individualisati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> career paths <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> situati<strong>on</strong>s; <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>,<br />

above all, a radical transformati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> social relati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> interacti<strong>on</strong>s with a<br />

blurring <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> fr<strong>on</strong>tiers between private <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> public (<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>essi<strong>on</strong>al) space<br />

which have a sizeable <str<strong>on</strong>g>impact</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> forms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> employee<br />

mobilisati<strong>on</strong>’ (CFDT 2015).<br />

It is in this c<strong>on</strong>text that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> CFDT, in collaborati<strong>on</strong> with IRES, has published a<br />

report adopting, as <str<strong>on</strong>g>its</str<strong>on</strong>g> angle <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> approach, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> relati<strong>on</strong>ship to different uses <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

digitalisati<strong>on</strong>: ‘<str<strong>on</strong>g>its</str<strong>on</strong>g> social anchoring, as a guide to underst<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> reas<strong>on</strong>s<br />

that can incline people to use or avoid digital opportunities, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> expectati<strong>on</strong>s<br />
