<str<strong>on</strong>g>Digitalisati<strong>on</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>ec<strong>on</strong>omy</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>its</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>impact</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> <strong>labour</strong> <strong>markets</strong><br />

The main recommendati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> this report deal with:<br />

<strong>—</strong> an agenda <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> inclusive robotisati<strong>on</strong>: robots must not impose <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>mselves<br />

up<strong>on</strong> workers <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>/or replace <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se workers but must be regarded as<br />

supplementary tools that can be used to make workers more productive<br />

in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> framework <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a ‘co-creati<strong>on</strong>’;<br />

<strong>—</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> development <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> supplementary skills <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> qualificati<strong>on</strong>s at all levels<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> educati<strong>on</strong>: technical issues relating to digitalisati<strong>on</strong> are indeed<br />

important but <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y are not <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> essential questi<strong>on</strong>s which, <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

c<strong>on</strong>trary, must be: ‘What is typically human about <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> work we do?<br />

Which tasks, relati<strong>on</strong>ships <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> resp<strong>on</strong>sibilities will c<strong>on</strong>tinue to require<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> human touch, or will we specifically want to entrust (or c<strong>on</strong>tinue to<br />

entrust) to people?’;<br />

<strong>—</strong> ownership <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> work: numerous studies have shown that this level <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

ownership <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> aut<strong>on</strong>omy is important for productivity. The questi<strong>on</strong><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>n becomes: how to get workers <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> machines to work toge<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r while<br />

allowing workers to retain resp<strong>on</strong>sibility for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir own work;<br />

<strong>—</strong> finally, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> WRR report tackles <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> emerging questi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> inequalities in<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> digital society, an aspect that has not yet been clarified for it is<br />

impossible to predict which categories will be <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> worst affected by this<br />

trend. The recommendati<strong>on</strong> to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> government, accordingly, is as<br />

follows: ‘Policymakers <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>refore need to create a portfolio <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> measures<br />

that will help <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> support people where necessary. It is also important<br />

to c<strong>on</strong>sider whe<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r workers can (<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> should) become co-owners <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

robots <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r machines, as we believe that co-ownership is <strong>on</strong>e way<br />

in which workers can c<strong>on</strong>tinue to master robots’ (WRR 2015).<br />

The report c<strong>on</strong>cludes with an appeal to involve all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> live forces <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> society in<br />

this inclusive agenda: ‘We <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>refore advocate an inclusive robot agenda for<br />

governments, employers <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> employees, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir representative organisati<strong>on</strong>s,<br />

researchers <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r stakeholders that will help us master robots in a variety<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> different ways’.<br />
