kavayaḥ = the seers, poets, enlightened ones;<br />

vadanti = declare;<br />

Arise, awake, having obtained your boons, realise (them). Sharp as the edge of a<br />

razor and hard to cross, difficult to tread is that path (so) sages declare.<br />

This path is not easy. It is a razor sharp path which can lead to our own<br />

destruction if we do not maintain perpetual vigilance.<br />

na ayam ātma balahīnena labhya -<br />

this ātma cannot be obtained by the weak.<br />

a̱śabdam a̱ sparśam a̱ rūpam avyayam tathā̍ 'rasaṁ ni̱ tyam a̍ gandhavac ca yat |<br />

aṉādy-a̍nantam ma̱ hata̍ ḥ paraṁ dhru̱ va̱ ṁ ni̱ cāyya̍ tam mṛ̱ tyu-mu̍khāt pramucyate<br />

|| 15 ||<br />

aśabdam = non-sound, soundless;<br />

asparśam = touchless,<br />

arūpam = formless;<br />

avyayam = undiminishing,<br />

tathā = and also;<br />

arasaṁ = tasteless;<br />

nityam = eternal;<br />

agandhavat = odourless;<br />

ca yat = and<br />

anādi = beginningless;<br />

anantam = endless;<br />
