Whatever desires are hard to gain in the world of mortals, ask all desires according to<br />

thy will! These beauties with their chariots and lutes not such as these are to be gained<br />

by men; be waited on by these, bestowed by Me! Ask me not concerning dying,<br />

Nachiketas!<br />

ye ye kāmā durlabhā martya-loke sarvān kāmāṁś chandataḥ prārthayasva.<br />

imā rāmāḥ, sarathāḥ satῡryāḥ, na hīdṛśā lambhanīyā manuṣyaiḥ.<br />

ābhir mat-prattābhiḥ paricārayasva, naciketo maraṇam mānuprākṣīḥ. (25)<br />

ye ye = all things; that are;<br />

kāmāḥ = desirable;<br />

durlabhāḥ = difficult to get ;<br />

martya-loke = in the human world;<br />

sarvān kāmāṁ = all those desirable things ;<br />

prārthayasva = ask for;<br />

chandataḥ = according to your choice,<br />

imāḥ = here are; the celestial nymphs -<br />

the rāmāḥ = (lit. women) who are so called because they delight (ramayanti) men; sarathāḥ<br />

= with chariots,<br />

sa-tūryāḥ = with musical instruments.<br />

īdṛśāḥ = such (women);<br />

na hī lambhanīyāḥ = are not surely to be had;<br />

manuṣyaiḥ = by mortals.<br />

ābhiḥ = by these - by these female attendants;<br />

mat prattābhiḥ = who are offered by me;<br />

paricārayasva = get (yourself) served;<br />

naciketaḥ = O Naciketā; maraṇam = of death;<br />

mā anuprākṣīḥ = do not inquire.<br />

“Whatever delights there may be, conceivable or inconceivable, visible or<br />

invisible, ask for them without restraint. Here are chariots, and noble maidens<br />
