Triathlon<br />
Triathlon, which made its debut on the South Asian Games stage, was<br />
held on 13th and 14th February 2016 with swimming events held at Zakir<br />
Hussain Aquatics Complex and Cycling and running events at NH-<br />
37. The event being held for the first time had participation from only<br />
India, Sri Lanka and Nepal in the Men, Women and mixed relay events.<br />
A total of 10 male and 10 female athletes participated in Triathlon with<br />
the support of 4 team officials.<br />
Dilip Kumar and Guru Datt won Gold and Silver respectively for India<br />
in the men’s event while Nuwan Kumara of Sri Lanka finished third.<br />
In the women’s event Pallavi Retiwala and Pooja Chaurushi won Gold<br />
and Silver for the hosts with Roza K C from Nepal finishing third. In<br />
the mixed relay event India won the Gold, Nepal won the Silver and Sri<br />
Lanka the bronze. The event went a long way in popularizing the sport<br />
of triathlon in the country and the region.<br />
The two day event was conducted by 3 ITOs, 50 NTOs and Competition<br />
Director Shri Sushil Choudhary.<br />
