Games for the participating athletes and officials.<br />

Temporary Landing Facility (TLF) was made<br />

available for those participants traveling without<br />

the Accreditation Card due to late entries or any<br />

unforeseen situations.<br />

To ensure unprecedented security arrangements<br />

for the Games MHA provided funds of Rs 67 crore<br />

to State Governments of Assam and Meghalaya<br />

for security arrangements and spared the Central<br />

Armed Police Force for providing security cover<br />

for the Games and most importantly a high<br />

powered committee chaired by Union Home<br />

Secretary reviewed the security arrangements.<br />

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)<br />

Ministry of External Affairs played a vital role for<br />

the conduct of the South Asian Games by issuing<br />

necessary instructions to all Missions abroad in<br />

support of the Games, appointing Nodal Officers<br />

in all participating Countries for facilitation of<br />

speedy issuance of Visa, distributing publicity<br />

material in the participating countries and<br />

waiving visa fee for the NVP process.<br />

Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA)<br />

Airports were the first point of contact for all<br />

the participants and Ministry of Civil Aviation<br />

ensured hassle-free arrival for all the participants<br />

by coordinating with the Airports Authority of<br />

India and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, to<br />

ensure successful airport operations for the South<br />

Asian Games. Delhi, Bengaluru, Guwahati and<br />

Kolkata were appointed as nodal airports and<br />

directions were given to these airports to ensure<br />

the requirements are adequately ascertained and<br />

communicated by the airports.<br />

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) and<br />

Prasar Bharati :<br />

The Ministry of information & broadcasting<br />

supported a complete coverage of the Games<br />

by Prasar Bharati. The Ministry of Information<br />

and Broadcasting deputed its officials during the<br />

Games period and also provided funds to Prasar<br />

Bharati for carrying out Broadcast operations.<br />

Further, DAVP provided the outdoor mobile<br />

vans and Press Information Bureau constantly<br />

disseminated the news from Guwahati, Shillong<br />

and Delhi. Across 18 venues and across two<br />

different states, the whole Prasar Bharati team<br />

managed to cover and broadcast the event to<br />

millions of people. Prasar Bharati also provided<br />

live feed to the participating countries free of cost<br />

so that viewers all over South Asia could be a part<br />

of the Games.<br />

South Asia Olympic Council<br />

Established in 1981, the South Asia Olympic Council<br />

(SAOC), formerly known as the South Asian Sports<br />

Federation, is the governing body of the South Asian<br />
