for the SAG in the cities of Guwahati and<br />

Shillong as well as other parts of Assam and<br />

Meghalaya to promoting the Games at other<br />

events, Tikhor had people trailing him in<br />

crowds wherever he made an appearance.<br />

In one such instance of mass following, Tikhor<br />

was promoting the Games in a small town on<br />

the outskirts of the city of Guwahati. There was<br />

a wedding nearby, and when the family got<br />

whiff of Tikhor strolling closeby, the parents<br />

of the bride came out and invited Tikhor with<br />

Gamusa to come and grace the wedding and bless<br />

the bride. In another such incident, Tikhor had<br />

been at an international painting Olympiad with<br />

painters from more than 30 countries representing<br />

their country as a delegate, in the city when a<br />

delegate from Thailand had gone on his knees<br />

and paid obeisance to him. Thais worship rhinos<br />

and its horns, leading the delegate to kneel down<br />

before the mascot.<br />

Tikhor connected with the audience at various<br />

public festivals, schools, colleges, market, parks,<br />

sports club and media houses etc for sustained<br />

engagement with the population of Guwahati<br />

and Shillong. This ground promotion with<br />

Tikhor became a very successful and active tool<br />

of engagement with the public of the two cities.<br />

10 mobile vans with digital publicity material<br />

provided by the Directorate of Audio and Visual<br />

Publicity, GoI travelled on all the main roads of<br />

Guwahati and Shillong along with Tikhor and<br />

connected the Games with the people of the two<br />

cities.<br />
