Meghalaya Police (MP) in coordination with<br />

CAPF deployed 3000 security personnel in<br />

Shillong during the Games. Meghalaya Urban<br />

Development Authority (MUDA) provided 50<br />

buses in Shillong for the movement of athletes,<br />

technical officials (TO), media etc.<br />

Organising Committee – 12 th South Asian Games<br />

(OC-SAG)<br />

The OC-SAG was the apex committee for the<br />

management and organisation of the Games. The<br />

OC-SAG was set-up on 29th June, 2015 under<br />

the Chairmanship of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal,<br />

Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge)<br />

for Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India<br />

and Shri N. Ramachandran, President IOA,<br />

Shri Ajit Singh, Sports Minister, Government of<br />

Assam and Shri Zenith Sangma, Sports Minister,<br />

Government of Meghalaya as the Co-Chairmen,<br />

Shri Jarnail Singh, CEO, OC-CWG as the Secretary<br />

General and Shri Rajeev Mehta, Secretary General<br />

IOA as the Co-convener of the OC-SAG. The<br />

GTCC constituted by the IOA, which constituted<br />

of senior officials of the IOA and overlooked<br />

the completed Technical Conduct of the Games.<br />

Shri Injeti Srinivas, Director General – Sports<br />

Authority of India (SAI) was the CEO (Guwahati)<br />

and Shri R. K. Sharma was the CEO (Shillong) for<br />

the Games.<br />

The appointment of experienced and senior<br />

administrators such as Shri Tara Datt, Additional<br />

Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha as the<br />

COO, Shri R. T. Jindal, Additional Chief Secretary,<br />

Government of Assam as the Prinicipal Adviser,<br />

Shri Avinash Joshi, Joint Secretary, GoI as Joint<br />

CEO, Shri Ajay Tewari, Commissioner and<br />

Secretary (Sports), Government of Assam as Joint<br />

CEO Guwahati and Shri Freddy Kharkongar,<br />

Commissioner and Secretary (Sports),<br />

Government of Meghalaya as Joint CEO Shillong<br />

enabled the OC to plan its activities in a methodical<br />

and comprehensive manner. These experienced<br />

administrators were ably supported by Shri R.<br />

K. Sacheti, Joint DG – OC-CWG, Delhi who with<br />

his technical know-how about the conduct of<br />

major events in the country worked as Special<br />

Adviser for the Games with additional charge of<br />

coordination & accreditation of functional areas.<br />

The senior management was provided much<br />

needed support in the areas of Venue operations<br />

and Development as well as Security by Lt. Gen.<br />

(Retd.) Rajiv Bhalla who served the Games as<br />

Adviser.<br />
