TECHNOLOGY<br />
The Technology functional area was responsible for<br />
the delivery of quality, reliable and cost effective<br />
technology, information and communications systems<br />
and services for facilitating and conducting the Games.<br />
The functional area was working not only as a service<br />
provider to all other programme areas of the OC SAG<br />
but also as an enabler for successfully delivering the<br />
Games. The FA undertook planning, development,<br />
implementation, testing and operation of all<br />
technology systems and services which were identified<br />
as necessary and appropriate to support the OC SAG<br />
and to conduct the Games. It included setting up<br />
large complex networks, that is, Games Data Network<br />
(GDN), Security Data Network (SDN) for the CCTVs<br />
for Security, Network for Venue Press Centers etc;<br />
rolling out Games Management System, a specialised<br />
ERP like software for facilitating planning and conduct<br />
of the Games; setting up TSR system for conducting<br />
the Games; Secure Wireless Communication; a<br />
Web-portal for dissemination of Games Information;<br />
Data Centre with Data Redundancy (DR) & BCP and<br />
Network Monitoring & Cyber Security. All these<br />
however could not be fully achieved (or not required)<br />
in the present case. The activities are described in the<br />
following Sub functional areas mentioned below:<br />
1. Network Services: BSNL was engaged as the<br />
overall networking partner for carrying out<br />
Overall network design, its implementation and<br />
network operations to meet the demands of the<br />
different networks - Games Data Network (GDN),<br />
Network for the Main Press Centres (MPC) and<br />
Venue Media Centres (VMC), network for the<br />
