WARNING<br />

It is essential in cold weather to remove even the<br />

smallest accumulations of frost, ice, snow, or slush<br />

from the tail and control surfaces. Exercise caution<br />

to avoid distorting the vortex generators on<br />

horizontal stabilizer while deicing. To assure<br />

complete removal of contamination, conduct a<br />

visual and tactile inspection of all critical surfaces.<br />

Also, make sure the control surfaces contain no<br />

internal accumulations of ice or debris. If these<br />

requirements are not performed, aircraft<br />

performance will be degraded to a point where a<br />

safe takeoff and climb may not be possible.<br />

Verify condition, security, and verify 18 vortex generators on the<br />

upper side of each horizontal stabilizer.<br />

4. Control Surfaces and Elevator Trim Tabs . . . . . . . . . . . CHECK<br />

Verify condition, security, freedom of movement and tab<br />

position.<br />

5. Static Wicks (14 total) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . CHECK<br />

Verify condition and security; verify 4 static wicks per elevator<br />

half, 5 on the rudder, and 1 on the stinger.<br />

6. Rudder Gust Lock . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DISENGAGE<br />
