With its national and international reputation, Ansal University is proud to include and launch from the forthcoming<br />
academic session, a new four year Bachelor of Fine Art programme with specializations in Painting and Applied Art.<br />
The curriculum combines a unique blend of practical and theoretical training that harnesses and hones the aspirant’s<br />
inherent capability and skills while identifying and diminishing existing weaknesses. It has been set by<br />
M Vijayamohan, Head of Department. One amongst the most respected art academicians in the country with nearly<br />
38 years of teaching experience at the collegiate level, M Vijayamohan had served for the last 12 years of his service as<br />
the Principal, College of Art, 20-22, Tilak Marg, New Delhi, until his superannuation in November, 2012.<br />
The Faculty is amongst the best comprising the finest art teachers, selected with careful diligence bearing in mind the<br />
respective strengths individually and assembled with a clear view of offering the aspirant a 360 degree learning experience<br />
with each faculty member addressing crucial, core realm of the syllabi. In addition to the team, the Calendar is replete<br />
with guest visits to the Campus by eminent artists, established professionals, and senior academicians to share their<br />
knowledge and experience with the students.<br />
The four year (eight semesters) full time BFA Degree Course is divided into two parts: (a) FOUNDATION (2 Semesters),<br />
and, (b) SPECIALIZATION (8 Semesters). The Foundation is common to both the Specializations. As implied, the Course<br />
provides instructions to lay the base for the Specializations and their amalgamation through a teaching schedule of<br />
assisted learning of practical subjects and theory, leading to the degree.<br />
The vocational aspects of these Courses will enable the aspirants to gain knowledge of various skills of: i) painting<br />
and advertising profession, materials and methods, both past (traditional) and present (multi-media), ii) mixed media<br />
techniques and their effect on visual language, iii) study of History of Art and Aesthetics, both Oriental and Western, iv)<br />
understanding of related fine arts such as Music/ Dance/ Theatre and Film/ Architecture and Literature, and v) about the<br />
fundamentals and appreciation of art.<br />
The aspirants can also continue the process of art education focussing on the changing social /political scenario - its<br />
effect on art education and its application, changing trends/ languages, social functioning, and understanding new and<br />
conventional mediums.<br />
Public and private participation would be by exhibiting one’s work in the form of drawings, paintings and mural<br />
installations through campaign projects, art academies and galleries sponsored both by the Government and private<br />
promoters of art. The process would also involve public awareness through art education and art appreciation workshops<br />
and seminars and the importance of art therapy that could also include students from other streams of education.<br />
Facilities offered are of top notch quality, including the strong, mutually bound connections with creative luminaries and<br />
professionals in the field of art and design. Reputation of the school is to be built on exceptional academic quality with the<br />
contribution of the faculty having relevant skills for the studio work, and discipline required for learning substantiated with<br />
the rewarding experiences of interaction with the extraordinary peers and visiting academics. Offers of scholarships/ fee<br />

M Vijayamohan, HOD, BFA (Fine Art)<br />
An alumnus of the Govt College of Arts & Crafts, Chennai, Tamilnadu, M Vijayamohan completed Diploma in<br />
Fine Art in 1970 and Post-Diploma in Industrial Design (Ceramics) in 1971. He also attended the New York<br />
Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, New York, USA.<br />
M Vijayamohan was appointed as a Faculty member to teach Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Ceramics at<br />
the Govt. College of Arts & Crafts, Chennai, Tamilnadu, from September, 1974 and continued in that capacity<br />
until August, 1978. He became Principal of the College in February, 2000 and served this position until his<br />
superannuation in November, 2013.<br />
M Vijayamohan actively practices his own art and has received numerous recognitions including the award<br />
of the President of India’s Silver Plaque for the Best Exhibit and Cash Award in 1991 at the Annual All India<br />
Exhibition organized by the All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society, (AIFACS), New Delhi. His works are in collection<br />
with the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, College of Art, New Delhi,<br />
besides other private collections in India and abroad.<br />
