Herbal Learning
Inside Mahidol University’s Salaya Campus, Sireeruckhacharti Nature
Learning Park is known as ASEAN’s leading herbal learning centre. The
inspiration behind the establishment in Thailand came from the need to
preserve the wisdom and heritage of traditional and folk medicine. Here,
unique techniques in traditional pharmacy have been passed down from
generation to generation. In 1988, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit graciously
granted the name “Sireeruckhacharti” for the garden, which has now
expanded into 55 acres of land.
More than 800 medical plants are collected and learning materials
are available, along with exhibitions at Sireeruckhacharti Nature Learning
Park. With its design and use of modern media and presentation, the
place attracts different groups of visitors and is considered as one of the
important eco-tourism destinations in Thailand. sireepark.mahidol.ac.th,
THAI MEDICINES AT HOME
BALMS
Made from varieties of herbs
and ingredients, this soft cream is
known to ease different symptoms,
namely a congested nose, dizziness
and nausea. It can also be applied
topically on the skin to sooth
swelling, bruises and aches.
INHALERS
Ingredients in an inhaler vary depending on the recipe’s
brand and formula. However, they all share the same
quality of alleviating dizziness,
nausea or fainting. With the
refreshing scent from camphor,
mint and aromatic oil, people
use inhalers to feel
energised.
