Malom Depot (Imphal)<br />

A new automated rail head terminal at Malom (Imphal) is being developed to meet the ever increasing<br />

POL demand of Manipur area. The project is in advance stages of completion and is likely to be<br />

commissioned in May 2016.<br />

15.2.4 Setting up of a Bio-refinery at Numaligarh<br />

NRL has planned to establish a bio-refinery at Numaligarh for production of bioethanol from bamboo.<br />

The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 790 crore and it is envisaged to be completed in 24 months<br />

after start of construction for which feasibility studies have already been carried out. This project<br />

should be taken up on an immediate basis, considering the fact that, it will improve access to clean<br />

fuel and in the process will promote bamboo cultivation which will benefit the local<br />

farmers/entrepreneurs associated with bamboo production and processing industry.<br />
