Foreign journalists who participated in
the '2019 World Journalists Conference'
hosted by the Journalists Association
of Korea visited the Saemangeum
development site on March 27.
About 70 reporters from 50 countries
looked into the future image of
Jeonbuk, covering Saemangeum where
2023 Saemangeum World Jamboree will
be held and Gogunsan Islands around
Buan and Gunsan in Jeonbuk Province
on the afternoon.
Song Ha-jin, the governor of Jeollabuk-do,
said to them, "Jeollabuk-do has an
outstanding ecological environment
undamaged, traditional culture, and
warm community consciousness." He
also asked to have much interest in
how Jeonbuk Province, which has a
millennium history, will make a great
leap as the Northeast Asian economic
hub centered on Saemangeum.
Lee Chang-ik, the chairman of the
Jeonbuk Press Association, said through
his congratulatory message, “I welcome
journalists from all over the world who
visited Jeonbuk, the birthplace of the
Donghak Peasant Revolution. I’d like
to ask you to pay close attention to
Jeonbuk to be a growth engine for the
future of Korea.”
The conference under the theme of
‘The Role of the Press for Peace on
the Korean Peninsula’, will be held in
Gwangju, Daejeon, and Incheon until
March 30th.
