czasu og∏aszajà: „to my jesteÊmy Europà, jesteÊmy Europà, bo wy
nas nià uczyniliÊcie”. I kierujà te s∏owa w∏aÊnie do tych, którzy
faktycznie chcieli, by Niemcy by∏y Europà i niczym wi´cej – do
rzeczników imperializmu francuskiego, dominacji angielskiej czy
ekspansjonizmu rosyjskiego.
L´k przed podbojem kontynentu jako korelat pragnienia podboju
poza nim.
organizacji samego procesu pracy.
z nim, a zarazem poza niego wykracza.
ile „idealizm”: nie w znaczeniu oderwania od realnoÊci, od Êwiata;
si´ w codziennej orce (wysi∏ek s∏u˝y „kulturze”: idea∏ sublimacji
albo in˝ynier w operze) i ˝e nie wystarczy te˝ jednak poprzestaç
na „pi´knym duchu” (kultura winna byç „ucieleÊniona”: idea∏ tresury)
– czyni z Niemca typ antropologicznie (czyli historycznie)

Secondly:
how and where to place the immaterial in terms of work? Preferably,
of course, a direct result of the development or organisation of the
work process itself, despite the fact that the result – freedom, enlightenment,
space for free play, communism, communication – is not
part of this development or organisation. The result transcends the
development, even though there are some points of contact. As real
is, it seems more of a postulate. Therefore, 'idealism' is much more
German than utopianism: not in the sense of detachment from reality,
from the world; rather as a way of 'experiencing' the world – facing
the tension between matter, the one exposed by the modern work,
and all thing that detaches from it; the 'goal', the core, the invisible.
This tension – stemming from the fact that it does not suffice to be down-
-to-earth and endure the toils of daily life ('culture' feeds on effort:
the ideal of sublimation an engineer in the opera) and that it is not
enough to settle for 'a beautiful spirit' culture should be 'embodied':
the ideal of training) – makes Germany anthropologically
11
(i.e. historically) interesting.
[…]
Work as understood 'in a German way' – i.e. not primarily as the
processing of matter, but rather as a social relationship – was also
communication, i.e. a reproduction of the conditions of maintaining
interpersonal relationships (even those based on exploitation).
Here is what the famous 'end of work' could mean: the transition
from production to consumption as digestion, and consumption of all
relationships in the name of naked collisions within the response
system. Conflicts could still be associated with the reflective (indirect)
nature of interests – clashes occur 'selflessly', which also
means that their motives and sources are located somewhere else,
they are external (although not necessarily hidden).
