A TEXT COMBINING THE NAZI WOMEN STRATEGY INBERLIN CAPTURED BY THE RUSSIAN (Против войны! ПротивФашизма!), AND THE FäBERBöCK’S DIRECTING STRATEGY, ORNO MAN WILL EVER TOUCH US AGAIN.— The four colours that have been in my mind – black, white, navy blue and brown – used in various arrangements in severalpaintings, here arranged into a chessboard, squares fitted intoone square. The squares came first: the square image got broken down into 16square fields, arranged in a very clever composition into a patternof squares of different colours, organised diagonally from the topright to the bottom left (here is the order of the diagonal colours fromthe left top: one square of zinc white, two squares of cobalt, threesquares of dark umber, four squares of black vines, three squares ofzinc white, two squares of cobalt, one square of dark umber). The squares were covered by fields that take up half of the painting'ssurface. The left half (the vertical strip) is a scene from the ActionHow to Explain Pictures to the Dead Hare (we mean the paintings),performed by Dead Hare held by Joseph Beuys. The performancecould be seen through a crack in the obscured window of theSchmela Gallery in Düsseldorf; the audience could not hearthe explanation of culture: the presence of painted images nor thethings whispered by Beuys into Dead Hare's ear, but something reachesthe ears of the audience, our ears; significant elements wereused in the space, in the background of the action, such as steel, felt, canvas- bound frames to symbolise support for paintings, goldflakes and honey on the face, the dead hare with protruding ears.On the right side covered by the colourful squares, the right half(the vertical strip) is a repeated, composed frame from the filmWoman in Berlin, together with a text relating to this film: A TEXTCOMBINING THE NAZI WOMEN STRATEGY IN BERLIN CAPTU-RED BY THE RUSSIAN (Против войны! Против Фашизма!), ANDTHE FäBERBöCK'S DIRECTING STRATEGY, OR NO MAN WILLEVER TOUCH AS AGAIN.29
