Stemple paszportowe: o ile bliski Zachód to Niemcy, o tyle Bliski
Wschód jest odleg∏y, tak odleg∏y jak Przygody Sindbada ˚eglarza
czy jak rzeczy z serialu Fauda (Chaos) na Netfliksie, chocia˝
mówià o dzia∏alnoÊci agentów izraelskich (terrorysta o imieniu
Pantera szykuje zamach) w Izraelu i Palestynie* na terytoriach okupowanych
przez Izrael, agentów znajàcych j´zyk, znajàcych teren,
najcz´Êciej tam urodzonych. Kadr z serialu, wraz z komentarzem
w j´zyku na przemian niemieckim i angielskim** jest dla tego, tu malowanego
obrazu dalekim-bliskowschodnim obrazkiem-inspiracjà.
* Historia ˚yrafka o imieniu Brownie obecnego na documenta 12,
znana za sprawà niemieckiego artysty Petera Friedla, te˝ dzieje si´
w Palestynie.
** Napis w dwóch j´zykach, konstruowany dla celów ekspresji
artystycznej jako rodzaj wersu – linii tekstu: Die Stempel Stamps

Palestinian Passport Stamps [May God Help You], 2020,

Passport stamps: while the Middle West is Germany, the Middle
East is distant, as distant as the Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor
or like things from the series Fauda available on Netflix, even
though it draws on the experience of Israeli agents (a terrorist
nicknamed Panther is plotting an assassination) in Israel and
Palestine* in the territories occupied by Israel, agents who know
the language, who know the area, and most of whom are born
there. We used a frame from the series, together with a commentary
in German and English (alternately**), as our distant Middle
East inspiration for the painting.
* The story of Brownie the Giraffe, present at documenta 12, known
through the German artist Peter Friedl, also takes place in Palestine.
** The inscription in two languages, constructed for the purpose
of artistic expression as a kind of verse – a line of text: Die Stempel
Stamps des nicht existierten of a non-existent Staates Palaestina
Palestinian state.

The first one: two photographs from the action I Like America And
America Likes Me, Beuys wrapped in felt and brought directly
from Germany to America without him having once touched
American soil until he is driven to the René Block Gallery where
he is locked with a Coyote.
