CHILDREN IN NEED

TAVISTOCK FOOD BANK
Pupils at the Prep kindly donated pencil
cases full of new stationery to the Tavistock
Foodbank. They were gratefully received and
went to various families in need in the local
area before Christmas.
BRITISH CITIZEN YOUTH
AWARD
Congratulations to Year 12 pupil, Samir
Mazumder BCyA, who received the
British Citizen Youth Award. The award
recognises young people who make
a significant impact on society, their
community, charity or other good cause
and inspire other youngsters to emulate
their good work. Samir was nominated
by the Headteacher of his previous
school, The Cumberland Community
School, Newham, for organising events
which raised over £9,000 for charities in
the UK and Africa. He visited the Palace
of Westminster for the formal ceremony.
CHARITY & VOLUNTEERING
GREAT BRITISH SPRING CLEAN
Our Eco Club warriors are taking part in the
Great British Spring Clean 2022. As a school
we pledged to collect 50 bags of rubbish
between Friday 25 March and Monday 11
April. All pupils are encouraged to help reach
this target by collecting rubbish at home, in the
park or on the beach.

Emma and Clara Bowles completed a mile-aday
challenge for 26 days.

SUPPORTING SWIMMERS IN
SOUTH AFRICA
The Mount Kelly swimming community
recently donated more than 30 racing
suits and equipment to an underprivileged
swimming community in South Africa.
Whilst competing in South Africa last
week, Year 9 pupil, Kelly Wynne-Jones,
was able to meet some of the recipients,
deliver a further 25 suits, and spend time
training with them. Kelly plans to set up
a permanent collection box so that the
School community can continue to play
a part in helping less fortunate swimmers
achieve their potential.
LITTLE PRINCESS TRUST
Year 10 pupil, Holly Tasker, has donated
her hair to the Little Princess Trust and
spent the summer holidays fundraising
and doing odd jobs to pay to turn her hair
into a wig. Holly also spoke at the Rotary
where she raised even more money for
the charity.
