MUSIC AT
THE COLLEGE
CHAMBER CHOIR PERFORM
AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL,
LONDON
Mount Kelly Chamber Choir were the
School Choir of the Year from 2019
till 2021 and part of their prize was to
take part in a fundraising concert for
Barnardo’s in November 2021 at the
Royal Albert Hall. We were fortunate
enough to be sharing the stage with
the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra,
conducted by their Artistic Director Ben
Pope as well as over six hundred primary
school children from the London area for
a wonderful programme of film music.
Chamber Choir sang one of their favourite
items: Eatnemen vuelie by Frode Fjellheim
with specially written accompaniment
played by the RPO.
To perform in such an enormous and
iconic venue was the experience of a
lifetime for our young singers and we
were delighted that so many recent
leavers came along to swell the ranks of
the choir.
CHARITY CABARET CONCERT
In what has become a regular fixture of
the concert programme, March saw
the Charity Cabaret Concert with three
stages featuring a professional jazz
quartet led by Mount Kelly brass teacher
Sam Massey, pupil singer songwriters
performing their own material and the
College Little Big Band playing jazz
standards and other familiar tunes. The
whole evening was a resounding success
and an substantial donation was made to
the Tavistock Memory Café, the school
charity for 2021-22.
CHAMBER CHOIR AT
CALSTOCK ARTS CENTRE
The end of the school year for the
Chamber Choir always revolves around
the now traditional concert at Calstock
Arts Centre in the picturesque riverside
twon of Calstock. This breathtaking
venue is a converted chapel which sits
overlooking the river Tamar and behind
the performers is an enormous window
offering amazing views over the river back
to Devon. As well as being a musical
highlight of the year, this event is also an
opportunity to say goodbye to all those
pupils who are leaving the school and the
choir. An emotional occasion, but a joyful
opportunity look back on concerts, tours
and experiences from the last few years.
