they are made of recycled plastics or from
virgin polymer, such as coloured transparent
polypropylene.
Squeeze it hot – smaller through steam
“Squeeze It Hot” has been based on the
method for crumpling bottles adopted in
bars and cafés, where a dispensing spout,
inserted in the bottle softens and permanently
crumples up the plastic container.
This system can be aodpted for the home
using the increasingly widespread home
coffee making machines. The only drawback
of the system is the risk of scalding
owing to the high temperature of the
bottle, effectively preventing crushing of
the bottle by hand. Two plastic elements
have been provided to protect the hands
at the moment of crumpling, along with a
special solution for the drainage of hot
water and insulation of the bottle.
Savespace – minimum bulk of the full
container
A project was aimed at increasing the ratio
between bottle capacity and bulk when
stored away and stacked with others – to
optimize stockage and transport.The coefficient
reached was 0.888 against the 0.65
of bottles currently in production. The secret
lies in the neck of the bottle that fits
into a recess in the base of a bottle of the
same design; in order not to hamper
stackability the bottle has been given a
stubby neck that also facilitates pouring,
while reducing the material stress in the
blowing phase. The 2 l container has a
transversal rectangular cross-section in a
size offering good exploitation of space on
a standard 80 ´ 120 cm pallet. The smaller
radius, seen in the corners of the body of
the bottle, could be increased in the event
of the need for a lighter bottle to increase
shock and fall resistance.The original shape
of the container as well as its modular
surface design has led to numerous possible
ideas of reuse of empties in the home
where glasses can be added at the top to
complete the compositions.

This packaging item, aimed at the market
for baby-products, is a response to the re-

Numerous possibilities for re-use
cent trend in the market aimed at creating
new niches of consumption. The idea of
simplifying the administering of mineral
water and other possible baby foods away
from home has led us to devise a container
capable of replacing the traditional
baby bottle that can be bought at any
supermarket. A sucker- top, the same size
as any teat, that is easy to insert after the
removal of the closure element, enables
the reclosability of the container ensuring
a certain sterility of the contents. The
bottle has a special ergonomic design to
facilitate consumption by infants; additional
ribbings enhance top load resistance.
