Quand y aller? / When to go?
Sous un climat d’altitude, la meilleure période pour
se rendre dans le village d’Ambatofisaorana est
entre le mois de Mai et le mois de Novembre.
With its high altitude climate, the best period to
visit the village of Ambatofisaorana is between the
months of May and November.
Comment s’y rendre? / How to get there?
Ambatofisaorana est situé à 53km au nord de la
capitale. Empruntez la RN3 reliant Antananarivo et
le Lac Alaotra en passant par Talata Volonondry où
vous bifurquez à gauche. Sur une piste secondaire
très rude de 28km, vous arrivez au village
d’Ambatofisaorana. Seules les voitures toutterrains
sont conseillées.
Ambatofisaorana is located 53km to the north of
the capital. Take the RN3 main road linking up
Antananarivo and Lake Alaotra, travelling as far as
Talata Volonondry, where you will turn left. After
driving along a very rough 28km track, you reach
the village of Ambatofisaorana. Only 4x4 all-terrain
vehicles are advised.

Aucun établissement hôtelier n’est sur place.
Toutefois, vous pouvez revenir au centre-ville
pour trouver les meilleurs hôtels tels qu’au
Louvre, au Tamboho Suites, ou encore au
Carlton.
There are no hotel structures on the site. However,
you can return to the town centre, where there are
some very high-quality hotels such as the Louvre,
Tamboho Suites, and the Carlton.
Où manger? / Where to eat?
Des gargotes et petits snacks sont situés aux
environs du village. Toutefois, vous pouvez
ramener votre ration et pique-niquer au sommet
d’Ambatofisaorana tout en admirant le paysage
qu’offre le site.
There are a number of cafes and snack bars in the
vicinity of the village. You can also bring your own
food and picnic at the top of Ambatofisaorana, while
enjoying the scenery around the site.
Que voir? / What to see?
En une journée de randonnée, retracez une
grande partie de l’histoire de la royauté
d’Imerina en commençant votre visite dans
le village d’Ambohitrolomahitsy, suivi de celui
d’Ambatomiranty et d’Ambodivonkely avant de
prendre une petite pause à Sadabe. Ces sites
se trouvent tous sur le même chemin menant
à Ambatofisaorana. Après Ambatofisaorana,
continuez l’aventure à Kaloy, le village natal
d’Andrianampoinimerina.
A day’s hike will be enough to discover most of the
history of the Imerina royalty, setting off from the
village of Ambohitrolomahitsy, followed by those of
Ambatomiranty and Ambodivonkely, then taking a
break in Sadabe. All these sites are along the same
track leading to Ambatofisaorana. After leaving
Ambatofisaorana, you can venture as far as Kaloy,
Andrianampoinimerina’s native village.
