Starting the recording mode<br />

Face recognition<br />

This mode detects the face position of the subject automatically and then sets<br />

the focus and exposure. Select this mode for quick and easy pictures of people.<br />

Selectable modes : Auto, Program, ASR, Portrait, Children, Beach&Snow,<br />

Self shot, Cafe mode.<br />

1. Press the FR (Face Recognition) button<br />

( ) in the selectable modes.<br />

The FR icon will be displayed on the<br />

screen left top side.<br />

INFORMATION<br />

This function can detect up to 9 persons.<br />

When the camera recognises many people at the same time, it will focus on<br />

the nearest person.<br />

When Face detection begins, the Digital Zoom cannot operate.<br />

When Face detection begins, the Effect mode cannot operate.<br />

When the face is recognised, the focus frame will be white. And the face in<br />

focus will be highlighted in green when the Shutter button is pressed halfway<br />

down. Other faces (up to 8) in the picture will be shown in grey. (Total 9)<br />

Return to previous AF mode if face recognition was failure.<br />

In some conditions this function cannot work properly<br />

- When a person wears dark glasses or when some part of the face is hidden<br />

- When the person being taken does not look at the camera<br />

The maximum available Face Recognition range is 2.7m (Wide).<br />

The nearer the subject, the faster the camera can recognize the subject.<br />

2. The size and position of the auto focus frame<br />

is set on the face of the subject automatically.<br />

Things to watch out for when taking pictures<br />

Pressing the shutter button down half way.<br />

Lightly press the shutter button to confirm focus and flash battery charge.<br />

Press the shutter button all way down to take the picture.<br />

3. Press the shutter button halfway. The focus frame turns to green when the<br />

focus is activated.<br />

4. Press the shutter button fully to take a picture.<br />
