Anläßlich dieser Entwicklung benannte der
Vorstand der knaw eine Kommission unter
Vorsitz von Prof. Dr. M.A. Schenkeveld-van der
Dussen, die sich über Zukunftsperspektiven
und Chancen des chi aussprechen sollte. Die
Kommission, bestehend aus Prof. Braakhuis,
Prof. Dr. Hans Bennis (Direktor des Meertens
Instituut-knaw) und J. van ’t Hek (knaw) sowie
den beratenden Mitgliedern Prof. Dr. Wiljan van
den Akker (Universiteit Utrecht; ab November
2003 Direktor der Institute für Geistes- und
Sozialwissenschaften der knaw) und Prof.
Dr. Frank Willaert (Universiteit Antwerpen),
reichte ihren Bericht am 31. Oktober ein. Die

to advise on the appointment. This process produced
a candidate whose possible appointment
was greeted positively by all members of staff. In
the course of the summer, however, it became
clear that the potential appointee and the knaw
were not able to reach agreement on the terms
under which the director was to operate.
Partly as a result of this development the
governors of the knaw instituted a committee,
chaired by Professor M.A. Schenkeveld-van der
Dussen, to advise on the future prospects of the

für die Dauer von zwei Jahren für drei Tage pro
Woche zum Direktor des chi zu ernennen und
Dr. Annemarie Kets-Vree zur stellvertretenden
Direktorin. Die neue Direktion hat den Auftrag
