Mathematics – INCTMat
INCTMat promoted, in partnership with major research centers in the
country and its Development Centers, about 24 events. Promoted, in
particular, a workshop with the INCT for Climate Change that resulted in
a project approved by FAPERJ “Modeling Geomechanics Hydro-Geological
Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide in the Pre-Salt.” The INCTMat also
contributed significantly to the decentralization of mathematical research
in the country by promoting events and scientific exchange, particularly
through its 19 Centers, located mostly in the North, Northeast, West and
Midwest. Many of these Centers already have their master’s programs
qualified by CAPES and four doctoral programs were initiated, of which
three of them resulted from partnerships between the Centers. The
prospect for achieving the goals of INCTMat for the coming years is very
good, because the Brazilian Mathematical Community is very integrated
globally into de project and the Institute as well as the Brazilian Mathematical
Society are seen as of prime importance for the growth of the
field in the quality and quantity of researchers in the country.
well a great deal of evolution in the understanding of quantum turbulence
in the Bose-Condensate of Rb atoms. Besides turbulence, excitation
of collective modes was part important of this year achievements.
Investigations of chemical reaction on the ultra-cold temperature regime
were also part of our activities. Interesting theoretical propositions allow
us to initiate a whole new field of possibilities concerning excitations of
collective modes in atomic quantum fluids. Those ideas where adequate
demonstrated using a condensate of Li atoms. A great evolution for a
whole new set of experiments involving a second condensate of Rb atoms
took place this year. As for Plasmonic, an important implementation
is the implementation of the main beam machine for deposition. At the
Summary of achievements and perspectives
The INCTMat contributed to the production of more than 470 articles
published in journals of international circulation, well or even excellently
qualified, and 270 others accepted for publication in such journals. This
is a significant advancement of qualified scientific production. As a
result, mathematics has emerged as one of the three areas in the country
with the highest average impact compared to the world average impact
in the same area. INCTMat has also contributed in a significant way
through, its program of events and scientific exchange, to the 133 doctors
and 396 masters that concluded their degrees, according to CAPES. The
same time, different courses and workshops were implemented as an
announcement of this new field for students. The plasmônica group ,
composed of many local and international collaborators already start to
produce a great deal of results in both theoretical and experimental level
. Biophotonics, is having a year of Gloria. Two of the produced work
were chosen as highlights for the virtual journals as well as produced an
editorial in an international journal. The ideas of using external measurements
as indicators for photodynamic therapy performance, were finally
accepted by the international community . The new techniques based
on optical fluorescence for organ transplantation evaluation call the
attention of important centers around the world, generating a series of
