Message from the President
Despite the adversities arising from unstable climate conditions and a pessimistic economic scenario,
Usina Santa Terezinha was able to stay among the largest companies in the sugar, ethanol end bio-energy
sector. This was possible with actions and decisions based in our institutional values that turned crop 2013
in a period of achievements.
The company with the support from the Administrative Council continued to invest in production scale to
secure the competitive edge of our goods in both internal and external markets.
Aware of the many variables that the sector faces and looking to improve the innovative measures that
minimize the risk of operations, Usina Santa Terezinha consolidated the renovation of cane fields using
the deep soil technique which enable a more adequate utilization of the different types of soils present in
each mill. The technique also optimizes the use of inputs and improves the infiltration of water in the soil.
This example highlights Usina Santa Terezinha commitment to an efficient environmental management
that aims to improve productivity and also mitigate the impact of its operations.
In 2013 the agricultural, industrial and corporative areas of the company made a commitment between
all management levels to establish the goals for the next years and also to determine the strategy to
pursue them. This was an important step to ensure that our Mission Statement and Vision be within all
areas of the company with transparency towards the objectives.
Usina Santa Terezinha kept its integration with society and communities by conducting many projects in
the areas of education, culture, sports and environmental awareness, continuing to meet the objectives of
the Global Compact. These projects will be detailed further in this report.
Our priorities remain the same: continuing to grow increasing productivity through efficient management,
reduce the environmental impact of our operations and improve quality and safety of all our activities. That
way we can achieve results with added value for shareholders, collaborators, suppliers, partners and all
community.
Thus we present the 2013 Sustainability Report, which strengthens the position of Usina Santa Terezinha
in the market with stability, ethics and transparency, contributing for the sustainable development of the
country.
