PERFIL ORGANIZACIONAL | ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE<br />
Usina Santa Terezinha is a representative closely held<br />
company in the sugarcane, ethanol and bio-energy sector<br />
in Brazil, consisting of nine production units in Paraná.<br />
The collaborators chart is composed of 22,981 people,<br />
allocated in the corporative office and logistics terminal<br />
– in the city of Maringá, the truck and railroad station in<br />
Paranaguá, the production units in Iguatemi, Paranacity,<br />
Tapejara, Ivaté, Terra Rica, São Tomé, Rondon, Cidade<br />
Gaúcha, Usina de Açúcar e Álcool Goioerê Ltda, Costa<br />
Bioenergia Ltda all located in Paraná State, as well as<br />
Usina Rio Paraná, a greenfield project located in Eldorado,<br />
Mato Grosso do Sul State.<br />
In 2013, Usina Santa Terezinha was rated as the second<br />
agribusiness company to employ more people in Brasil by<br />
Exame magazine’s “Melhores e Maiores 2013” (Best and<br />
Biggest) publication.<br />
In the crop year 2013/2014 16.1 million tons of sugarcane<br />
were processed considering the production units of<br />
Usina Santa Terezinha and Costa Bioenergia combined.<br />
Thus 1.56 million tons of VHP sugar were produced and<br />
391,740.473 m³ of ethanol, 122,392.029 m³ of anhydrous<br />
ethanol and 269,348.444 m³ of hydrous ethanol and<br />
613,713 Mw/h of electric energy. Primarily an exporter,<br />
in 2013 the company exported 1,520,680 tons of sugar<br />
and 121,680 m³ of ethanol to European, Asian, American<br />
and African countries. In the domestic market were sold<br />
1,233 tons of sugar, 116,612 m³ of anhydrous ethanol and<br />
106,335 m³ of hydrous ethanol.<br />
In the market since 1961, Usina Santa Terezinha supports<br />
the ten principles of United Nation’s Global Compact and<br />
initiatives aiming to combat corruption, secure human<br />
rights respect, improve working relations and protect the<br />
environment<br />
In 2013 Usina Santa Terezinha performed many activities<br />
toward sustainable development by investing in social and<br />
environmental actions.<br />
One of the actions promoted in the company’s units<br />
was the project “Semeando o Verde” (Sowing Green),<br />
which involved the participation of 4,200 children of 20<br />
public schools from ten cities in Paraná State and one<br />
city in Mato Grosso do Sul State. The project promoted<br />
educational and cultural activities such as: lectures,<br />
theatrical presentations, phrase contests, the planting<br />
of 25,000 tree saplings in preservation areas and the<br />
distribution of environmental kits and awards.<br />
The company also promotes the project “Atletismo”<br />
(Athletics) to incentive the practice of sports by its<br />
collaborators and relatives. These activities include the<br />
participation in street races in the Paraná State like the<br />
“Prova Rústica Tiradentes”, the “Maratona de Revezamento<br />
Vanderlei Cordeiro de Lima – Pare de Fumar Correndo”<br />
both in Maringá city and the “Corrida Rústica de Iguatemi<br />
Elenilson Silva – Pare de Fumar Correndo” in partnership<br />
with the State University of Maringá (UEM).<br />
Both our institutional projects “Semeando o Verde”<br />
and “Atletismo” are considered social and environmental<br />
practices and are certified with the seal of Millennium<br />
Development Goals – Partner Company for 2013/2014.<br />
Usina Santa Terezinha is committed to the “Movimento<br />
Nós Podemos Paraná” (Movement We Can Paraná), by<br />
conducting actions toward the goals of MDG (Millennium<br />
Development Goals) established by the United Nations<br />
and valid until 2015. Usina Santa Terezinha was also<br />
certified by the Federal Government of Brazil with the<br />
“Selo Empresa Compromissada” (Commited Company<br />
Seal) which identifies organizations that fulfill practices<br />
established in the National Commitment to Improve<br />
Working Conditions in the Sugarcane Industry.<br />
Notably, Usina Santa Terezinha promotes actions<br />
that contribute to the welfare, health and safety of its<br />
collaborators and their relatives, suppliers, partners<br />
and the community, improving the social, economic<br />
and environmental performances and maintaining itself<br />
integrated with society.<br />
