como a Estónia é hoje uma potência mundial do cinema e um

“O Nome da Rosa” pela intriga policial, estes filmes vão muito
mais além, contando os primórdios da Medicina e da investigação
criminal, o papel da mulher numa altura em que a Igreja
Católica a diaboliza, e a luta do Poder civil que procura evitar os
desvarios da Inquisição. A emoção de uma encruzilhada da civilização

Together with a woman dressed as a man and who wants to learn
his trade, he is going to fight superstition and the horrors of the
Inquisition. With a great story of love and salvation, these three
independent films with common characters present an epic historical
portrait of a critical epoch. They also show why Estonia has
earned today the world of cinema’s respect and is one of the countries
with more co-productions in Europe. Reminding us of
“The Name of the Rose”, mostly because of its detective story subplot,
these films go beyond, showing us the beginning of modern
Medicine and of scientific criminal investigation, the role of women
at a time when the Church portrays them as evil and the struggle
of civilian power to annul the destructiveness of the Inquisition.
The thrill of a crossroads in the civilization before the Renaissance.
