Um homem no fim de vida busca um recipiente válido para a sua
riqueza. O mais próximo é um primo ainda jovem com quem não
fala há muito. No entanto, o jovem génio pensa que já tem o seu
futuro matematicamente definido e que não quer aceitar a herança.
Juntos, vão à procura do sentido da vida. Mais um filme do multi-
-premiado mestre polaco Krzysztof Zanussi, um assíduo visitante do
Festival da Figueira da Foz nos anos 70 e que vem ao Fantasporto
pela primeira vez.
Nascido em 1939 em Varsóvia na Polónia. Realizador de documentários, filmes
de ficção e argumentista. Fez estudos na Lodz Film Academy em 1966. O seu
filme de fim de curso, “‘Death of a Provincial” (1968) ganhou prémios em
Veneza, Mannheim, Valladolid e Moscovo em 1967. Outros filmes iniciais
incluem “Structure of a Crystal” (1969) que venceu em Mar del Plata (1970);
“Family Life” (1971) que venceu em Chicago, Valladolid e Colombo; “Illumination”
(1973) foi Grand Prix de Locarno (1973) e premiado em Gdansk; seguiram-se
“Quarterly Balance” (1975), “Camouflage” (1977) and “Spiral” (1978).
Foi vencedor do Prémio do Júri do Festival de Cannes com “Constans” (1980).
A longa-metragem “Eter” (2018) antecedeu “Perfect Number” (2022).
A rich sick man in search of an heir to his wealth. The nearest is his
cousin whom he has not seen for years, a mathematical genius.
However, this young man thinks his future is already mathematically
decided and doesn’t seem to accept his offer. Together they go to look
for the meaning of life. Another feature by multi-awarded Polish
master Krzysztof Zanussi, once a frequent visitor of the Figueira da Foz
Festival in the 70’s and who visits Fantasporto for the first time.
Born in 1939 in Warsaw, Poland. Documentary and feature film director scriptwriter.
Graduated from Lodz Film Academy in 1966. His school diploma film
“Death of a Provincial” (1968) won an award in Venice, Mannheim, Valladolid
and Moscow in 1967. Other early feature films: “Structure of a Crystal” (1969)
which won in Mar del Plata (1970); “Family Life” (1971) which won in Chicago
(1971), Valladolid (1972) and Colombo (1973); “Illumination” (1973) Grand Prix
in Locarno (1973) and awarded in Gdansk (1974); “Quarterly Balance” (1975),
“Camouflage” (1977), and “Spiral” (1978). Winner of the Jury Award in Cannes
with “Constans” (1980). His latest feature before “Perfect Number” (2022)
was “Eter” (2018).
